✂️🥹 Well, it’s definitely the end of an era…

About a month ago, Josh decided that he wanted to cut his hair, and once he made up his mind, there was no changing it. He was determined.

So after nearly nine years, yesterday, he got his very first real haircut. ❤️

As excited as he had been all week, I think once we actually got there and it became real, the emotions started to kick in. There may have been a few tears. Truthfully, there may have been a few from Mom, too. 😂

His hair had become a bit of a security blanket, and it’s been such a big part of who he’s been for so long. But we’re incredibly proud of him for sticking with his decision. And once he saw the finished product? His face absolutely lit up. He loves his new look, and we have to admit… he suddenly looks so much older.

So allow us to reintroduce him… Joshua A. Ranger! 😎✨

A special shout-out to Jimmy and Keisha Vaughan of Shear Genius Salon for making this milestone such a positive experience. They calmed his nerves, tag-teamed the haircut, and took such great care of him from start to finish. We couldn’t have asked for a better first haircut experience.

It's hard to believe it's already been a week since we participated in Matoaka Elementary School's Career Day, and honestly... we're still recovering. 😅😂 God bless our teachers!

All jokes aside, we had an absolute blast spending the day with the students. They were full of energy, incredibly inquisitive, and asked question after question about pharmacy, healthcare, and what it takes to become a pharmacist. Let's just say we all made sure to have our energy drinks nearby to keep up! ☕⚡

One of the things we love most about hosting pharmacy students is giving them opportunities to experience all aspects of the profession. Our current student team includes two students from VCU, one from Hampton University, and one from Howard University. They joined us for Career Day and had the chance to interact with students, answer questions, and represent the profession in a meaningful way.

Experiences like these remind us that pharmacy extends far beyond the pharmacy counter. Whether we're caring for patients, educating the community, mentoring future pharmacists, or inspiring the next generation, every interaction matters.

And as an added bonus, we even got to spend some time with our favorite Matoaka Cardinal while we were there! ❤️🐦

A huge thank you to Matoaka Elementary School for inviting us to participate. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to next year!

One of the greatest blessings of serving our community is the relationships we build along the way.

Today, we're especially grateful for partners like Edgeworth Park at Newtown, who took the time to send us a thoughtful note and a sweet treat after one of our recent educational presentations. Gestures like these remind us that the work we do matters and that the relationships we build extend far beyond prescriptions and medications.

We are incredibly thankful for the trust that so many organizations, patients, residents, and community partners place in us. Knowing that our services bring value and make a positive impact is both humbling and motivating.

To our friends at Edgeworth Park at Newtown, thank you for your kindness, your partnership, and your continued support. We truly appreciate you and look forward to serving alongside you for years to come.

☕ Wellness, the TPS Way Wednesday ☕

In the middle of busy schedules, endless to-do lists, and the hustle of everyday life, consider this your reminder to slow down for a moment and simply enjoy your cup of coffee.

Sometimes wellness isn't about a major lifestyle change. Sometimes it's about taking a few minutes to pause, breathe, recharge, and be present.

If you're looking for a great place to do just that, be sure to check out Tipsy Beans Cafe’. It has long been one of our favorite local spots to relax, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet moment. And now, after its recent remodel and expansion, there's even more space for the community to gather and enjoy all that it has to offer.

This week, challenge yourself to carve out a little time for yourself. Take a walk, sit outside, call a friend, or savor your favorite coffee without multitasking. Your mind and body will thank you for it.

And while you're at it, show some love to another amazing Black-owned small business right here in our community. ☕🖤

It’s hard to believe that an entire month has already passed since I had the incredible privilege of serving as the keynote speaker for the VCU School of Pharmacy Hooding and Diploma Ceremony.

Recently, VCU School of Pharmacy shared a recap of the occasion, and seeing it brought back so many memories from that special day. It was truly an honor to stand before the Class of 2026 and share a few lessons I’ve learned along the way about faith, leadership, courage, and stepping into the opportunities God places before us.

One of my favorite messages from that day was this:

“Readiness is not a feeling. It’s a decision.”

To the graduates, thank you again for allowing me to be a small part of your journey. I have no doubt that the future of pharmacy is in good hands.

If you missed the recap, feel free to check it out here:

Over the past two weeks, the support surrounding my appointment to the Virginia Board of Pharmacy by Governor Spanberger has been truly overwhelming in the best possible way. The phone calls, text messages, emails, cards, flowers, social media posts, and heartfelt congratulations have meant more to me than I can adequately express.

As I reflect on this opportunity, I am reminded that none of us reaches milestones like these alone. Along the way, I have been blessed with incredible mentors, colleagues, friends, family members, and community supporters who have poured into me, challenged me, encouraged me, and helped shape the person and professional I am today.

Serving our patients and our profession has always been a privilege, and I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute in this new capacity. I do not take that responsibility lightly.

As I prepare to begin this new chapter of service, I do so with a grateful heart and a commitment to continue advocating for patients, the profession of pharmacy, and communities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Thank you for every kind word, prayer, message, and gesture of support. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.

With a grateful heart,

Jade 💚

Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a girls weekend with three of my closest friends from pharmacy school, and whew… my soul truly needed it.

The time flew by way too fast, but there was something so refreshing about simply being together again nearly 15 years after graduation. We laughed, reminisced about old stories, talked about life, family, work, and everything in between. And for a brief moment, it felt like no time had passed at all.

As grateful as I am for every accomplishment, accolade, title, and opportunity that has come my way over the years, there was something incredibly grounding about being surrounded by people who knew me when. Before the awards. Before “Dr. Ranger.” Before being a wife, mother, business owner, author, community leader, and all the many hats I now wear daily. To them, I’m still just Jade. And honestly? That’s a gift.

Life moves fast. Responsibilities pile up. And as working moms and women who pour so much into everyone else, it becomes very easy to place ourselves at the bottom of the list. If I’m being completely honest, I haven’t done the best job of making time for myself lately. This trip reminded me just how necessary that time really is.

So moving forward, I’m trying to be more intentional. More intentional about rest. More intentional about friendship. More intentional about protecting moments that refill my cup instead of constantly pouring from an empty one.

I’m thankful for friendships that have stood the test of time, for women who have walked alongside me through every season, and for the reminder that sometimes the best medicine isn’t found in a prescription bottle… it’s found in laughter, sisterhood, and being fully present with people who love you for exactly who you are. ❤️

💚☀️ Wellness, the TPS Way Wednesday ☀️💚

Recently, Jade had the opportunity to volunteer at Field Day for her son, Joshua, and it served as a great reminder of how important it is to step outside and enjoy the simple things.

The weather was beautiful, and the kids spent the day running, laughing, competing, and having fun. No phones. No tablets. No video games. Just fresh air, sunshine, movement, and genuine connection.

At The Prescription Shoppe, we often talk about medications, screenings, and preventive care, but wellness is about more than what happens inside a pharmacy. Sometimes it’s found in the simple things: taking a walk, spending time outdoors, soaking up a little vitamin D, and making time to connect with the people around us.

As life gets busier and screens become a bigger part of our daily routines, moments like these remind us of the importance of unplugging, moving our bodies, and being present.

So consider this your midweek reminder: step outside, take a walk, enjoy the sunshine, and make time for a little “woosah.” Your mind and body will thank you for it. 😊

Serving on the Board of Directors for is one of Jade’s favorite ways to give back to the community.

Earlier this afternoon, she had the opportunity to attend the annual Celebration of Lifelong Learning, an event that serves as a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Literacy for Life does so much more than teach reading and language skills. It opens doors, builds confidence, creates opportunities, and empowers individuals to achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.

Seeing the accomplishments of the learners and hearing their stories is always inspiring and humbling. It is a reminder that education changes lives and that investing in people has a ripple effect that extends far beyond the classroom.

Congratulations to all of this year’s learners on your accomplishments. Your perseverance, dedication, and courage are worth celebrating, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support such an impactful mission. ♥️📚
