How heavy do you need to lift to build muscle??
What I've seen in the gym, and when I started working with clients 19 years ago, I saw that...

Most people are stopping way too early in their sets…and/or not lifting heavy enough.

Now, heavier is NOT always better.
But you DO have to pick a resistance that is challenging to truly break down the muscle fibers (so they build back stronger!)

Here's what to focus on:
Your ultimate rep range should be 8-12.

You choose a weight that's challenging by the last few reps. I.e. your goal is 12, and the last 3 are very challenging to maintain form.

However, your form does stay controlled from start to finish.
You slow down enough to actually feel the muscle working (making sure you HOLD at the contraction).

You finish with only 1–3 reps left in the tank.

If you finish a set thinking, "I could've easily done another 5 reps," it's probably time to increase the weight.

Remember: It's GOING to feel uncomfortable & challenging - but not unbearable or painful.

Which one surprised you?
Number 3 & 4 goes against the norm 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't things like a typical trainer.
Because I'm way more than just "eat less move more" 😬

Women don’t work with me solely to just lose weight.

➡️ They’re looking for:

✔️A refresh on their routine; they’re stuck in a loop of bad habits like emotional eating, not planning meals or avoiding exercise

✔️A mental shift that takes them from self-sabotage, diet & perfectionism mentality, to one that includes food indulgences, “slip ups”, so you’re not starting over every 3 weeks

✔️Personalized, simple strategies that improve their energy, save time & they can stay consistent, even on the worst of weeks

I'm here if you're ready 💪🙋🏼‍♀️

Just send a DM and I'll give you my recommendations!

Workout snacks?! 👇🏻

You don’t “need” to eat before a workout (especially if it’s early morning) but it could be good to experiment with & without a snack to see how you feel.
BUT, we do need to STAY HYDRATED! 💦💧

So, what are some good pre workout snack options?

✔️Choose whole food, easy to digest carbs
✔️Pair it with a protein and/or fat
🚫Avoid heavy foods, high in fiber & fat
🚫 Avoid eating carbs alone
All of these will aid in steady blood sugar, energy and performance

Here are some grab & go healthy options:

Proteins:
Hardboiled eggs, deli turkey, greek yogurt, cottage cheese, protein powder/smoothie, protein bar, turkey or beef jerky (all organic)

Healthy Fats:
Olives, guacamole/avocado, nuts and seeds, nut butter

Carbs/Fiber:
Grain free crackers, fruit, hummus, rice cakes, organic oats (trial volume here)

Put it together:

Organic cottage cheese with fruit
Turkey jerky with almonds
HB egg mashed w avocado on rice cake
Rice cakes with nut butter
Protein smoothie

Unpopular opinion...

Group fitness classes aren't always the best way to change your body composition or improve your overall fitness.

Before you come for me...hear me out.

Group fitness classes aren't bad…

They're fun, motivating, and they get people moving. So it's a win for sure.

But they're not designed for YOU.

I've worked with several clients who take these classes, enjoy them, but come to me frustrated saying, “I'm working out so why does my body look the same??”

Because there's:

Minimal to zero customization

Lack of true progressive overload

Not always the appropriate intensity or correct form

Doing the same high-intensity Bootcamp or Orange Theory class several times a week may feel like it's effective, but you're actually just maintaining.

Group classes are the best tool for getting into exercise & having fun with the process.

The best tool for fat loss, building muscle & increasing strength/endurance?

A personalized exercise plan…one that matches your goals, your current fitness level, your hormones, your recovery capacity, and your lifestyle.

And I CAN HELP.

If you're putting the work in the gym but not seeing physique changes, then we should talk. Something in your routine needs to be addressed!

I don't just tell you what to do for exercise - I actually guide you through how to create a routine that's realistic for YOUR life.

Follow me for more health & fitness tips + ways to optimize results!
