🐾 National Immunization Awareness Month 🐾
As an integrative veterinary practice, we get a lot of questions about vaccines. August is National Immunization Awareness Month and today we’d like to let you know where we stand.
At our hospital, we believe vaccines are an important medical decision that should be made thoughtfully. We evaluate each pet's age, lifestyle, environment, and exposure risk to help guide our recommendations.
We make recommendations based on age, lifestyle, travel, environment, and exposure risk. We also understand concerns about over-vaccination and are happy to discuss titer testing and individualized vaccine plans when appropriate.
One vaccine we do strongly recommend and require is rabies. Rabies is fatal, affects both animals and people, and is required by North Carolina law for dogs, cats, and ferrets beginning at 4 months of age. In an effort to balance the rabies requirement and concerns from pet parents, we have thoughtfully selected certain rabies vaccines to carry in our hospital.
For dogs we use IMRAB® TF
For cats we use PUREVAX® TF
These vaccines are:
✔️ Thimerosal-free
✔️ Mercury-free
✔️ mRNA-free
Our mission is simple: help pet owners make informed decisions while protecting the health of pets, families, and our community.
