We absolutely adore and I am *enthralled* with my new body art from .tat2

From the vibe of the space to the artists who are so phenomenally talented to their commitment to build a community grounded in care and compassion for one another, Ghxst is far and above one of (if not THE) best tattoo studios in

Just a reminder that *tomorrow* (5/2), they are doing a flash event to support by raising money for our () therapy scholarship fund.

Come out between 12 and 5 to get your flash tattoo and support an amazing tattoo studio and amazing cause!!

And, keep a lookout for me and getting some and beautiful and delicate new body art, too.

Our practice has been focusing on two models that look at attachment and the way we relate to our selves over the course of our lifespan. And, what I love about both models - EFT and IFS - is that they emphasize offering your self and your parts the love you did not receive.

They are models that emphasize the importance and necessity of offering yourself the opportunity to have corrective emotional experiences by going back to those moments and dialoguing with those parts in loving, kind, and compassionate ways that bear witness to what happened alongside the self or part experiencing what happened.

Those moments that shaped you can be reshaped by you through loving kindness and holding space for the experience of those emotions and the vulnerability of allowing those parts of our selves to be seen, known, and loved.

Also, the song is amazing, too. 🤷‍♀️👏💃🏼

Sometimes it can feel like we are in an intractable spot, a stuck place. It can be helpful to remember that even if you or I do nothing in those moments, things will change. The sun will rise and set. Rain will fall and evaporate. The moon will keep impacting the tides. Change is inevitable. And, when you feel like there is nothing more you can do, you have permission to add time because time will cause things to shift and unstick- and then, you (and I) can try again.

I just think there is something really beautiful and important in both recognizing our collective humanity, the individual histories that bring us where we are, the collective and individual responsibility we share in navigating this timeline, and the realization that when hell is staring us in the face, we can push back against it- within ourselves and when we witness hell being unleashed by others.

It’s been very ICE-y lately, though this is just further escalation of the atrocities we have already seen happen.

It’s critical in these moments to remember that we are responsible for one another. We take care of one another. And, we have to choose- as white people- whether we want to stand in our whiteness or stand in solidarity recognizing that whiteness both doesn’t protect us and has ALWAYS been the problem.

The words of remind us that taking care of one another builds intimacy and connection- something we crave- something whiteness has never offered. Instead, whiteness removes the unique aspects of who you are in honor of something that does not hold us together in any meaningful way.

We have the chance to rewrite the American story. We have the chance to build systems that work for everyone. And, we have to be willing to let go of our white privilege to do it.

So, they will let you die if it means reducing even an ounce of their liability or risk to their “investment.”

The solution is to collectively stop participating in these systems. We can all not sign up for insurance. We can all refuse to pay for things. We can decide that we aren’t willing to keep living this way. Together.

Are y’all in the same Heated Rivalry chokehold that our house is? We. Love. To. See. A. Q***r. Love. Story.

Seriously, though, watching this show has brought up so many conversations about the pressure to hide parts of ourselves, the way families and cultures (ethnic, national, sport) shape what we show to others, and how heartbreaking a feeling it is to not be able to acknowledge the realest, truest love because of those things.

If you haven’t watched it, do. It’s…beautifully shot…and also just such a lovely representation of yearning and the will they won’t they embrace who they are and how they feel.
