Goose is one of our absolute rockstars in our program. He's sweet and well mannered and gives even the most timid kids confidence. He has a history of some rough training making him reactive under saddle and he has navicular, so his feet can be very painful. Since our programs center on connection from the ground, we don't need him to be ridden and his personality is just perfect. (Many thanks to Angi Skye Dawn's Horse Training for match making!)
In order to manage his navicular, he gets special shoes and pads plus daily medication to keep him comfortable and having fun.
We are committed to providing a high quality of care to our animals. Thankfully, the Sacramento Valley Vet Medical Association also recognized how amazing Goose is and awarded Hands and Hoofs a $1,500 grant to cover his expensive shoes and meds for a year. We are so grateful for their support!

Saturday was spa day for our donks Maria and Betsy! Both got a hoof trim, bath and luxurious blow out. Betsy gets a very thick coat and struggles with skin issues so she got her yearly clip (had to leave her boots with the fur!) Her clip also shows off her BLM freeze brand.

Both enjoyed lots of treats, scritches and cuddles. Many thanks to our long-suffering donkey handler and bather, Andy

For folks who struggle with mother's day, we see you too. For those trying or unable to be a mother, those with strained relationships, or those grieving, we know this day can be challenging.
