Healing Hands Integrated Wellness & Primary Care We will have outdoor seating available to provide extra space. To protect everyone in the clinic, when coming into the building, masks will be worn.

Our approach to healthcare is more of a preventive integrated care that encompasses primary care, women's health, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, and mental health services. Those that are up-to-date with their Covid vaccine and boosters, once in the exam room, they are optional (discuss this with your provider).

Stigma grows in silence.
Healing begins in community.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and provides a chance to stand with your community and show that no one struggles alone.

NAMI’s 2026 Mental Health Awareness Month theme invites everyone to join NAMI in speaking up against mental health stigma.

Turning Silence Into Connection

By sharing our lived experiences, learning from each other’s experiences, and building strong community connections, we can challenge stigma and create spaces where people are supported, understood, and find healing.

Every story shared turns silence into connection, and connection into healing. Together, we can strengthen communities and create opportunities for empathy, understanding, and meaningful change.

April has been designated the month to highlight Stress Awareness Month! This has been an annual event observed since 1992, dedicated to increasing public awareness about the causes, effects, and management of stress.

The Stress Management Society, a nonprofit organization established in 2003, has been championing this initiative for over two decades.
Our mission is to help individuals and organizations recognise and reduce stress, fostering happier, healthier, and more resilient communities.

This year encompasses workplace stress, which has reached record levels, affecting employees worldwide. Around 1 in 4 workers report feeling unable to cope with stress at work (1). Nearly 91% of employees have faced high stress or workplace pressure in the past year (2). Signs of burnout, including exhaustion and disengagement, are increasing, now impacting more than half of the workforce. Work-related stress, depression, and anxiety contribute to significant lost productivity and days off (3), highlighting the urgent need for supportive workplace initiatives.

Stress Awareness Month gives organizations a chance to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and actively support employee wellbeing before issues escalate.

Follow the link to complete the stress test and see where you are with your own stress. Then plan a conversation with your provider to map out a plan to destress.

March is National Nutrition Month® which is an annual campaign that was established in 1973 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This year's theme is "Discover the Power of Nutrition."

During this month, they invite everyone to learn more about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.

They encourage the following:

*Choose healthful foods from all food groups.

*Alternate your food choices for a variety of nutrients.

*Avoid fad diets that promote unnecessary restrictions.

*Find accurate sources for nutrition information.

*Meet with an RDN who specializes in your unique needs and health goals.

*Learn cooking and meal preparation skills that work with the resources you have.

*Locate community resources such as SNAP, WIC and local food banks.

*Advocate for nutrition policies that serve you, your family and community.

*Reduce the risk of foodborne illness with home food safety.

*Prepping and planning in advance to avoid mealtime stress.

*Include physical activity in ways that work for you.

If you have questions or concerns regarding your current nutrition status and how to make changes for the better, plan a conversation with your provider. We would love to assist and support you!

American Heart Month occurs every February to raise awareness about heart disease, educate patients on how common it is, and promote a healthy lifestyle to improve cardiovascular health. In the United States (US), heart disease is the leading cause of death among both men and women, as well as the leading cause of death among most racial and ethnic groups.

Over the last several decades, the burden of hypertension and cardiovascular disease in the US has increased significantly. Hypertension-related cardiovascular deaths increased from 23 per 100,000 people in 2000 to 43 per 100,000 people in 2019. Hypertension was either a contributing factor or the primary cause of 664,000 deaths in the US in 2023. The prevalence of other risk factors for heart disease, such as diabetes mellitus and obesity, also has been increasing.

This burden may continue to rise in the coming decades. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the prevalence of hypertension is projected to rise from 51.2% in 2010 to 61% in 2050. The AHA also projected increases in the prevalence of diabetes from 16.3% to 26.8% and in obesity from 43.1% to 60.6% in that same time period. Data from the AHA also suggest that baseline levels of physical activity and sleep health are currently not at the levels needed to improve cardiovascular health.

THINGS YOU CAN DO TO IMPROVE YOUR HEART HEALTH:

- take a walk daily
- monitor heart rate response
- improve diet by adding fruits and veggies
- reduce sodium intake
- limit alcohol consumption
- manage stress
- improve sleep habits
- quit smoking
- maintain a healthy weight
- and finally, schedule regular health checkups.

Call to schedule your annual wellness or follow up now with your provider so that you know where you stand with your cardiovascular health!
