The Journey Home

The Journey Home At The Journey Home, we believe every veteran deserves a place to call home. Join us in making a difference!! journeyhomevets.org/donate Why we do what we do!!

With compassion and dedication, we support those who served, helping them rebuild their lives. Welcome to The Journey Home!! With your continued support we are on a mission to prevent/end Veteran homelessness; to connect Veterans to local, regional, and national communities, so that together we may provide stability, support, and interventions, for all Veterans, to ensure they feel empowered to at

tain housing and keep their “Independence”. We want to ensure every Veteran has a place to call HOME!! They deserve at least this much from us, if not more!! At this moment there are an estimated:
-37K+ Veterans that are homeless
-1.4 million are at-risk of becoming homeless

To us, this is unacceptable!! We believe that our Veterans have been through enough, they have put their lives on the line and have answered our nations call to defend the Freedoms in which we love. At The Journey Home we want to repay our Service Men and Woman for their sacrifice, no matter what that looks like. “No Veteran left behind!!” is our motto and we will do everything we can to ensure all Veterans can hold their heads up high and be proud members of our communities. How we accomplish the mission!! Since opening our doors in 2014, we have helped 300+ Veterans, across the Untied States, overcome chronic homelessness. In addition to that and through our Outreach programs we have been able to help countless more, from all walks of life, receive the necessary support they need to remain in their homes. Through the below programs/services we provide we are able to accomplish our objectives. Outreach (All Veterans) – Fully funded by Donors
- HARM Reduction
- Disaster Relief

Transitional Facilities (Male Veterans Only) – Funded by Donors and VA Contract
o 15 Bed Facility

Transportation - Funded by Donors
- Fleet of 3 Vehicles
- We provide transportation to and from Medical/Dental Appointments, VA appointments, grocery pickup and other locations, as needed by the Veterans. o Staffed by our Veterans

It is with profound sadness that we at Journey Home share the news of the passing of our former board member, John Stanley.

John was a proud veteran who faithfully oversaw our outpost in Wi******er, Indiana, for more than four decades. His steady leadership, quiet strength, and deep commitment to our mission earned him the lasting respect of everyone in the community. He was a true pillar of strength and a devoted patriot who loved this nation and served it with honor both in and out of uniform.

To his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him, please know that our hearts are with you during this difficult time. Your loss is shared by so many whose lives John touched through his service, his kindness, and his unwavering dedication.

John will be deeply missed, but his legacy of service and community will continue to inspire us every day.

Rest in peace, John. Thank you for everything you gave.

We want to share an important update from The Journey Home.

Daniel Baker will be stepping down as the CEO due to ongoing health complications that require more of his time and attention in this season. While this transition is not an easy one, we fully support his decision to focus on his health and family.

Dan has helped lead this mission with heart, compassion, and a deep commitment to the veterans we serve. His belief in ending veteran homelessness and connecting veterans to stability, support, housing, and independence has helped shape the work we do every day.

In Dan’s words, “This mission has meant a great deal to me because it has always been about serving veterans with dignity, compassion, and hope. While I need to step back from this role, I still believe deeply in the work of The Journey Home and in the community that continues to stand behind it.”

We are grateful that Dan will continue to serve The Journey Home in a limited capacity as a member of the Board, and we know his continued support of this mission will remain meaningful.

Please join us in thanking Dan for his leadership, his care for this organization, and his heart for veterans. We are deeply grateful for all he has poured into this work, and we remain committed to the mission of ending veteran homelessness and helping veterans find their way home.

🎄 This Christmas, Home Means Everything.

While many gather around tables filled with warmth, laughter, and familiar faces, some veterans are still searching for a place to belong.

At The Journey Home, we believe no veteran should face the holidays alone or without a place to call home. Every door we help open represents more than shelter. It represents stability, dignity, and a fresh start.

This season, we’re grateful for the community that shows up.

For the partners who believe.
For the supporters who give.
For the veterans who trust us with their next step forward.

Because hope doesn’t take a holiday and neither do we.

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas.

Together, we’re helping veterans find their way home.

✨ Thanksgiving Message from The Journey Home ✨

This week reminded us what community really looks like.

Willard Elementary’s food drive brought in over 3,000 boxed and canned goods to support the veterans we serve and these photos only capture a fraction of the heart that showed up. Kids, families, and volunteers rolled up their sleeves, unloaded trucks, sorted food, shared a meal, and filled our halls with laughter and purpose.

We’re especially grateful for the softball team and our local volunteers who came in to help organize every donation. Their teamwork and dedication made it possible for these goods to be ready for veterans who need them most. Moments like this are exactly how we build stability, support, and hope for those who’ve carried so much for all of us.

From all of us at The Journey Home:
Thank you. For caring. For giving. For showing up.

Wishing you and your families a warm and meaningful Thanksgiving. 🧡🇺🇸

Our CEO, Daniel Baker, had the opportunity to speak at Monroe Central Jr.-Sr. High School’s Veterans Day Program this afternoon, made even more meaningful when his daughter surprised him by introducing him to the audience.

It was a powerful event honoring the men and women who have served our nation and a reminder of why we do what we do each day at The Journey Home.

Special thanks to Monroe Central for hosting such a heartfelt program that recognizes the courage, sacrifice, and service of our Veterans.
