An Update About Our Newborn Nursery Services at Wi******er Medical Center:
It has been our privilege to care for patients at Wi******er Medical Center while they are in the hospital for more than 70 years.
Nationwide, the model of care for hospitalized children and newborns has changed. For many years, it was common for office pediatricians to care for their own patients in the hospital. Over time, this role has increasingly moved to dedicated pediatric hospitalist providers. By the 2010s, our practice had already become a rarity in continuing this model of care.
During the severe 2022 respiratory illness season, when COVID-19, flu, and RSV surged at the same time, we transitioned inpatient pediatric admissions to the pediatric hospitalist team but continued to care for newborns.
We are deeply grateful for the trust our community has placed in us during such a special time for families. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to conclude our newborn nursery services at Wi******er Medical Center. This change will allow our physicians to expand their availability and focus on providing exceptional care within our office.
We remain committed to caring for your child from their very first office visit through every stage of childhood. We continue to offer evening hours, walk-in hours, and same-day scheduling so that we can provide a true medical home for our patients.
We look forward to continuing to serve your family and welcoming your newest addition to our practice.
