This past week, preceptors, mentors, educators, other staff, and families attended a Pinning Ceremony Celebration for LNA, MedSurg residency, and Emergency Department nurse residency graduates at both Valley and Mt. Ascutney! New graduates include 7 LNAs, 2 Emergency Nurse Residents, and 7 MedSurg Residents.

One graduate in particular, Nursing Assistant, Reese Perry, shares, “So right now obviously we need a lot of experience with inpatient and med-surg. It’s great because it’s a real mixing pot of all sorts of patients.” Perry hopes that in the future, primary care will be her main focus. “You have a little bit more of an interpersonal connection. I like that.”

Help us celebrate all they have accomplished!

Vermont high school students are spending their summer vacations learning all about health careers at Mt. Ascutney for this year’s Southern Vermont AHEC- Area Health Education Center MedQuest! Students are currently experiencing hands-on clinical skills workshops, interactive presentations, and real-world job shadowing. MedQuest aims to help students pursue a healthcare career close to home once they graduate.

Brooklyn, a junior, said, “I have had a lot of fun with the simulation lab. That was very exciting to get to practice on all the mannequins and learn how these processes work in a real hospital,” and "I’ve enjoyed being able to talk with the mentors that are in med school. It is kind of inspiring to see people who are already living the life that you hope to have.”
