Getting to know families prenatally is everything!! I wanna know what fills your cup before we ever enter the birth portal. Being deep in labor land isn’t the most appropriate time to be answering lots of questions or even knowing what to ask for to fill a need.
✨Quality time can look like intentional presence. Letting them know they aren’t alone, and even knowing when to give space.
✨Physical touch can be soothing strokes, massage, and pain coping techniques.
✨Words of affirmation can be vocalized or written on cards scattered throughout the room. A reminder of strength, perseverance, and their “why”. Affirming what they feel is normal.
✨Acts of service can be fetching and feeding nourishing snacks + offering sips of hydration. Cooling them off with fans, pouring warm water down the back, aromatherapy.
✨Gifts in this space can really be a combination of them all. For me it’s often in the form of making tea, preparing perineal healing blend, anticipating a vibe switch with music and lighting. Guiding partner with suggestions on how to help.
Asking folks about their love languages are a standard practice in our prenatal prep! Can you imagine how this is helpful?
