This week, we celebrate the dedicated EMS professionals who answer the call, day and night, in every condition, and during some of life’s most critical moments. EMS is more than emergency response; it is compassion in chaos, clinical excellence under pressure, and the unwavering commitment to being there when patients need help most.

At AirCare, we are honored to serve alongside an incredible team of flight clinicians, paramedics, EMTs, pilots, communication specialists, physicians, and healthcare partners who work together to deliver lifesaving care every single day.

We also want to recognize and thank the many referring EMS agencies we have the privilege of working alongside. From scene calls to interfacility transports, your trust, teamwork, and dedication make a difference in patient outcomes and help ensure seamless care when every second matters. 40 years ago, today May 15, 1986 AirCare completed its first patient flight. The crew departed Winston-Salem, NC for a scene call to transport an injured child from Patrick County, Virginia, back to what is now known as Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Pictured is the newly assembled flight team with the first helicopter that operated until the fully branded Bell 222 was placed into service.

Happy Nurses Week to the incredible nurses of AirCare!

Flight and critical care nursing is more than just providing patient care. It’s adapting to high-pressure situations, making critical decisions in seconds, and working together in some of the most challenging environments imaginable. From the ground to the skies, our nurses work side by side with medics, EMTs, pilots, physicians, respiratory therapists, and fellow nurses to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care to every patient we transport.

It takes trust, communication, and teamwork to make every transport successful and every crew cohesive. We are proud of the collaboration that makes AirCare what it is and grateful for the dedicated nurses who help lead the way every single day.

Our teams had a wonderful time working side by side with our friends from MedCenter Air in Charlotte this week in Winston-Salem at the EMS Expo!!! Looking forward to next year

We had an incredible time at the North Carolina EMS Expo in its new home, Winston-Salem!
Our teams were proud to be part of such a dynamic event—bringing together leaders and innovators in emergency medical services from across the state. From engaging speakers to a competitive and high-energy paramedic competition team, the event showcased the very best of our profession.
We were especially proud to have strong representation across MIH, EMS, MedCenter Air, and AirCare. Our staff connected with attendees, answered questions, and shared insights about the critical work we do every day to serve our communities.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, participated, and helped make this event a success. We’re already looking forward to next year!
