Let’s talk beverages 🍺 and food! **skip if this isn’t for you**

We had so much fun celebrating Star Wars Day at Disney this year! Even better- we got a reservation at the Cantina which is so fun! They have yummy nonalcoholic drinks too which makes it a fun experience for everyone. So we went there and the immediately rode Star Tours 😂…which was awesome.

And then we were hungry!

Our hunger cues don’t stop because we are drinking. It’s still important to honor hunger.

Drinking on an empty stomach is also not great on the belly and not safe. Plus, if it’s a reoccurring behavior that entails restriction of food before drinking, then that could be a sign of an eating disorder.

We don’t have to save up calories to drink. Our bodies need the nourishment from food. And remember to please stay safe while drinking and stay within limits. Safety is key 🔑

Nutrition is simpler than you would think 🤔

It’s pretty easy to get overwhelmed when looking at what our world has to say when it comes to nutrition. Perhaps even anxiety inducing!

Working with an eating disorder dietitian isn’t only good for those wanting to improve their relationship with food -it’s also good for those who want to compliment their mental health with their food and lifestyle. It helps cut through the 💩

If you make it to the end of my 5 minute rant on why diet culture makes me want to lose it in the ARFID/Autism space -you’re my hero. Thanks for listening 🤗

It’s been awhile since posting but this is something I’m extremely passionate about. The misunderstanding of what ARFID is in the ED space and how to treat it.

Try starting out by reconsidering what it could mean to respect or tolerate your body. Then we can build upon that foundation of respect.

Body respect is all about meeting your body’s basic needs like nutrition, wearing comfortable clothing, holding back from body bashing..

Once we cross that bridge -tolerating our body or even acceptance might sound a bit less foreign.

You can do this. It won’t always be perfect. But you can do this.

Got a Hai Hai dole whip today at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. The carbohydrates offer us quick energy to help replenish our glycogen stores in our muscles after running around a water park!

The sour candy on top hit the spot! 🤤
