If you or your family find the DD waiver waiting list process difficult to navigate, you are not alone.

VBPD found in its recent assessment of Virginia’s disability services system that many people on the DD waiver waiting list and their families cannot easily find out their current status, priority level or next steps.

That’s why VBPD recommends that the state offers a centralized, secure, user-friendly portal where applicants can see their real-time waiting list status. It would show applicants their priority level, next steps and the contact information of their support coordinator.

💚 Independence Empowerment Center (IEC) — our local Center for Independent Living, providing information about resources, services, advocacy, and supports available to individuals with disabilities and their families.

Whether you’re looking for school resources, disability-related supports, have questions, or simply want to pick up a fidget for your student, come see us this Saturday!

Evans Voice Community Center is incredibly proud to support iCan Swim and the opportunities it provides for individuals with disabilities to build swimming skills, confidence, independence, and—most importantly—have FUN in the water!

This video captures just a glimpse of the hard work, smiles, determination, and unforgettable moments that made iCan Swim 2026 so special. Every swimmer, family, volunteer, supporter, and community partner played a part in making this experience possible. 💙

The only way I’d get everything done is if I could split into five different versions of myself.

😎 One is notarizing documents.
📚 One is teaching students.
🎨 One is making crafts and journals.
🎻 One is teaching music.
❤️ One is building programs for the disability community.

Meanwhile… the real me is standing in the middle wondering which version was supposed to eat lunch today. 🤣

Running The Krisali Group isn’t boring—that’s for sure! Every day is a different adventure, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. (Although I’d definitely accept a few extra copies of myself. 😂)

Until then… I’ll just keep trusting God, staying focused, and pretending I have it all together. 😅💙
