June can feel strange for teachers. Everyone talks about summer break like exhaustion should instantly disappear the second school ends. But burnout does not always turn off that fast. A lot of teachers are ending this school year mentally overloaded, emotionally drained, and still carrying stress home with them. If that’s you, support is allowed to exist outside the classroom too.

A lot of people want support long before they actually receive it. According to The Trevor Project, 84% wanted mental health care, but half of those who wanted it could not get it. Some of the biggest barriers were fear of talking about mental health, cost, and needing a parent’s permission. Access is not only about whether appointments exist. It is also about whether someone feels safe asking for help, understands their options, can afford care, or has support getting started. In-person and virtual therapy can both make a difference when care feels accessible enough to actually use.

Coming out is often talked about like one big moment. But for a lot of people, it is a long emotional process filled with anxiety, anticipation, relief, grief, fear, hope, and sometimes loss. There can be pressure to feel proud and certain every step of the way, even when the reality feels more complicated. Some people gain support. Some people lose relationships. Some people are still figuring themselves out while trying to explain themselves to others. Whatever your experience looks like, you deserve support that makes space for the complicated parts too.

Mental Health Awareness Month might be ending, but stress, burnout, anxiety, grief, overwhelm, and hard days don’t magically disappear on June 1. Taking care of your mental health is still important after the campaigns, reminders, and social posts slow down. Sometimes support looks like finally talking about what’s been weighing on you. Sometimes it’s admitting you’re tired of carrying everything alone.

Therapy doesn’t have to be a last resort. It can just be support for real life. Find support through therapy at elliementalhealth.com

A lot of people want to be supportive during Pride Month but worry about saying the wrong thing. The truth is, allyship usually looks less like having the perfect language and more like showing respect in consistent, everyday ways. Correcting someone’s pronouns. Speaking up when a joke crosses a line. Making spaces feel safer instead of more exhausting to navigate. You do not have to know everything to show up better for people. Staying open, listening, and being willing to learn goes a long way.

More teens are talking about mental health and reaching out for support. That’s meaningful progress. But these numbers also show how many families still hit barriers once they try to actually access care. Finding the right therapist, understanding insurance, waiting for appointments, and figuring out where to start can feel like a lot when someone is already struggling. Mental health support should feel easier to begin and easier to keep up with. Small changes in access, clarity, and support can make a real difference for young people and their families.

Spring doesn’t feel light for everyone. When your body starts reacting to allergies, your brain can jump in fast-tracking symptoms, overthinking small changes, and trying to figure out if you’re actually okay. It can make something as simple as going outside feel like a whole decision. If you’ve been more on edge lately or avoiding things you normally wouldn’t, there’s a reason. Your system is trying to protect you, even if it’s a little loud about it. You don’t have to push through it alone.

Where was Ellie yesterday? We were at the Prince William county pride festival. We celebrated inclusion and shared resources with the LGBT+ community. Peter Suppa and Keira Cale provided a fun game involving our ducks.

This was a wonderful time in our community.

“Take care of yourself” can start to feel like background noise when you’re a caregiver. Not because it’s bad advice. But because it doesn’t match your reality. If your day is already full of other people’s needs, adding one more thing-even something good-can feel impossible. And when you can’t do it, it’s easy to feel like you’re failing at something you were “supposed” to do. You’re not failing. The advice just isn’t built for the situation you’re in. Sometimes what actually helps isn’t more pressure to do self-care. It’s having a space where you don’t have to hold everything for everyone else for a minute. That’s where support can come in.
