To the ones who answer the call without hesitation… Happy EMS Week 🚑❤️
I became an EMT in December 2001, and for 10 years the ambulance was my second home. Those years shaped me in ways I could have never imagined. The long nights, the adrenaline, the heartbreak, the laughter between calls, the chaos of lights and sirens — it all became the foundation of the nurse and person I am today.
EMS taught me resilience.
It taught me compassion.
It taught me how to stay calm in the middle of someone else’s worst day.
I will forever be grateful for the mentors, partners, paramedics, EMTs, dispatchers, firefighters, police officers, and first responders I stood beside. Thank you for teaching me, protecting me, and trusting me.
To every EMT and paramedic still out there answering 911 calls at all hours of the day and night — thank you. You are the people who run toward danger while others are running away. You witness humanity at its most vulnerable and still continue to show up, shift after shift.
The sacrifices, missed holidays, exhaustion, emotional weight, and long hours often go unseen. EMS professionals deserve more respect, more recognition, and more appreciation for the lifesaving work they do every single day.
This week, and every week, I honor you. 🚨
Happy EMS Week to all first responders. Stay safe out there. ❤️🚑
