Some of you know part of this story already — but I finally wrote about it.

2.5 years ago, our family ski trip to Black Butte turned into a carotid dissection and a stroke. One minute I was chopping wood, the next I couldn't say my own name to a nurse. My wife had to spell out the word "gum" for me two days later before I could recognize it.

This is the real story — the fear, the recovery, the "blah blah" months, and what I learned about trusting evidence over assumptions, even in my own field.

Grateful every day for my family, especially my wife, who got me through the parts I don't even remember. ❤️
