šŸ“š Back-to-school shopping? Don't forget the health checklist.

As families check off backpacks, school supplies and new clothes, there’s another back-to-school item worth putting on the list: your child’s annual physical.

An annual well-child visit can give your child’s provider an opportunity to:

• Check growth and development
• Review immunizations and preventive screenings
• Discuss nutrition, exercise and healthy habits
• Address physical or mental health concerns
• Talk about any questions your child or family may have

šŸƒ What about a sports physical?

A sports physical is designed to determine whether a child is ready to participate in a particular sport. Depending on the school or activity, it may be required before the season begins.

Here's something many parents may not realize: a sports physical and an annual well-child visit aren't necessarily the same thing — and they may not be covered the same way by your health plan.

In some cases, your child's annual physical may also satisfy the school's sports physical requirement. Ask the provider to complete the appropriate school form during the visit.

šŸ’” Insurance tip: Before scheduling, check your health plan's preventive-care benefits and whether a separate sports physical is covered.

Back-to-school season is busy enough. A quick benefits check can help avoid an unexpected bill later.

Coverage varies by health plan. Check your plan documents or contact your insurer for specific benefits and costs.

šŸ’” Health Insurance

āŒ "I can enroll in health insurance whenever I want."

āœ… Most people can only enroll in an individual or family health insurance plan during the annual Open Enrollment Period. Outside of that window, you'll generally need to experience a qualifying life event—such as losing other health coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving—to be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period.

If you're unsure whether you qualify to enroll or make a change, don't guess. A quick conversation can help you understand your options.

šŸ’” Health Insurance Tip of the Week

Before choosing a health plan or seeing a new doctor, make sure the doctors and preferred hospitals are in the plan's network. Seeing an out-of-network provider can lead to higher costs—or your visit may not be covered at all.

A few minutes spent checking your provider network before enrolling can save you time, money, and frustration later.

Have questions about your health insurance options? I'm always happy to help.

šŸ’” Health Insurance Tip

The lowest monthly premium isn't always the lowest overall cost.

When comparing health plans, look beyond the premium and consider deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and provider networks.

The right plan is the one that fits both your healthcare needs and your budget.

Questions about your coverage options? Feel free to reach out.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is:

"I'll just figure out Medicare when I turn 65."

The reality is that Medicare decisions can affect:

āœ” Your doctors

āœ” Your prescriptions

āœ” Your monthly healthcare costs

āœ” Your long-term coverage options

Many people don't realize how many choices are involved until they're facing enrollment deadlines.

Helping people navigate these decisions is exactly why I built Bridging Insurance Group.

If you or someone you know is turning 65, retiring soon, or simply has questions about Medicare, I'm always happy to be a resource.

Feel free to send me a message.

Lost your employer coverage or planning to retire soon?

COBRA often feels like the safest option because it lets you keep the coverage you're familiar with.

But familiar doesn't always mean it's the most cost-effective choice.

Depending on your situation, there may be other options worth exploring—including Medicare, individual coverage, or a spouse's plan.

Before automatically electing COBRA, it may be worth taking a few minutes to compare your choices.

šŸ‘‰ Comment "COBRA" and I'll send you a simple guide that breaks down the pros, cons, and key things to consider.

We’re approaching the midpoint of the year, which makes this a smart time to take a quick look at your healthcare costs and claims so far.

Some people may have delayed care due to cost concerns or uncertainty about benefits, while others may already be seeing medical bills from earlier in the year. Before paying any bill, take a moment to review your Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) or your Plan’s Explanation of Benefits (EOB).

These documents show what was billed, what was covered, and what you may be responsible for. A quick review can help you:

Confirm you were only billed for services you actually received
Catch billing errors or duplicate charges
Better understand your true out-of-pocket costs

Small review now can prevent bigger issues later.

If anything doesn’t look right or doesn’t make sense, support is available—reach out to your licensed agent or your plan’s member services for help reviewing it.

Not sure what you’re looking at? Send a message and I can walk you through it step-by-step.

Always check your Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) for errors. Make sure that you (and Medicare) weren’t billed for anything you didn’t get. If you see a charge that may be wrong, call us at 1-800-MEDICARE or file a complaint online at https://go.medicare.gov/3NGXYXD.
