I want to show you how one small change can completely transform a difficult conversation.
Imagine saying:
“You’re always on your phone. You never listen to me. You obviously don’t care about what I have to say.”
Even if your feelings are valid, how will the other person probably respond?
They’ll become defensive.
Now listen to the same concern expressed differently:
“When I’m speaking and you’re looking at your phone, I feel disconnected and frustrated because being heard is important to me. Would you be willing to put your phone away for ten minutes so we can talk?”
It’s the same concern—but it creates a completely different conversation.
The first version attacks the person’s character.
The second version explains what happened, expresses a feeling, identifies a need, and makes a clear request.
That is:
Pause. Feel. Need. Ask.
This is the practical framework I’ll be teaching during my free master class, From Conflict to Connection.
We are going to take the conversations that leave you feeling angry, guilty, dismissed, or misunderstood—and learn how to approach them with clarity and confidence.
Join me Saturday, September 5, from noon to 1:00 PM at Rock Yer Block, 694 Main Street in Plymouth.
Then stay and enjoy the Psychic Fair from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.
