I’ve been a little quiet here because I’ve been helping my son make the enormous transition to UC Berkeley—and then turning my attention toward reclaiming and refreshing my own home. But behind the scenes, another part of my life has been calling me back: makeup artistry and education.

After more than 25 years as a makeup artist, educator and business owner, I’m beginning to imagine the next chapter of Face-to-Face—an intimate, beautiful space for hands-on makeup education, private lessons, and bridal makeup and hair. I’m not ready to reveal everything yet, but I’m excited to begin sharing the journey.

Every Halloween, I always looked forward to seeing what wild idea Ashley Smith would bring me. 🎃✨

One year she walked in and said, “I want to be a squirrel.” This time? A flamingo. 🦩😂

The funny part is that I had absolutely no plan. I pulled up a photo of a flamingo for inspiration, grabbed a fake nail, glued it to create the beak on her nose, and built the entire makeup look around that one little idea. Everything else came together in the moment—pure creativity, instinct, and a lot of imagination.

About an hour later, this fabulous flamingo was born! I love challenging myself to create something completely off the cuff. Sometimes the best looks aren’t the ones you spend weeks planning—they’re the ones that happen when you trust your artistry. #💄

I’ve been a little MIA because my schedule has been full of beautiful clients, brows, glam, and long days doing what I absolutely love. Social media had to take a back seat for a bit, but I’m beyond grateful to everyone who’s been trusting me with their faces and keeping me so busy.
