One of the highlights of my week was getting to see one of my mama clients again last night. 💛

I absolutely love supporting the mamas. There is something so special about walking alongside families and then getting to witness the changes that unfold over time.

Her baby is now 9 months old, and I had the opportunity to work with him when he was much younger and struggling with latch challenges. During that session, I focused on releasing tension through gentle myofascial techniques, including work around the hyoid and suprahyoid region—the area at the base of the tongue.

What continues to amaze me is how interconnected the fascial system is. Restrictions in one area can create tension patterns throughout the body. When those patterns are addressed early, before they become deeply established, babies can often respond beautifully.

Last night, Mom shared that they never ended up needing a tongue-tie release procedure. Every baby and every situation is unique, and no single approach is right for everyone, but hearing stories like this reminds me why I am so passionate about this work.

I am continually humbled by the body’s ability to adapt, heal, and find balance.

It feels like seeds planted years ago are finally beginning to bloom. Lately, I’ve been blessed with more and more people seeking myofascial release, and my gratitude is overflowing.

I knew I was excited about Myofascial Release… but I didn’t realize I had reached the stage of life where finding anatomy textbooks at Goodwill would absolutely make my day. 😂📚

Today I scored TWO hardcover anatomy books for $1.99 each. Not a typo. The cashier actually had to double-check the price, and I was standing there trying not to look too excited.

Meanwhile, my kids are excited about new clothes, new gadgets, and the latest trends.

Me? I’m over here thinking, “LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL DIAGRAM OF THE PELVIS!” 🤓

The deeper I go into Myofascial Release, the more I appreciate both the art and the science of healing. I’ve always leaned toward the intuitive side—meeting the person where they are, listening to the body, feeling for the collagenous barrier, and trusting what the fascia has to say.

But after spending time learning from PTs, chiropractors, and other anatomy-loving practitioners, I’ve found myself wanting to understand the language behind what I’m feeling with my hands.

So apparently this is who I am now: the woman who gets genuinely excited about muscle charts, tendon attachments, and a bargain-priced anatomy book.

And honestly? I kind of love it.

Never stop learning. Never stop being curious. And never walk past a $1.99 anatomy textbook. 😂

People keep asking me, “What’s the magic?” ✨

There isn’t any magic.

There is motivation.

After years of navigating Lyme, inflammation, hormones, supplements, and feeling like I could gain weight just by looking at a carb, I was losing trust in my body.

Jesus healed through touch.

He touched the l***r.

He touched the blind.

He touched those society had pushed aside.

He didn’t heal through a screen. He didn’t heal from a distance every time. He entered into human connection.

As a practitioner of NeuroEmotional Technique (NET), Contact Reflex Analysis (CRA), and John F. Barnes Myofascial Release (MFR), I think about this often.

All three of these modalities involve intentional, compassionate touch. Not because touch itself is miraculous, but because we were created for connection.

Research continues to show what many of us already know deep down: safe, caring human touch can calm the nervous system, lower stress hormones, increase oxytocin, and help the body shift out of survival mode.

No matter how advanced technology becomes, AI will never be able to place a reassuring hand on someone’s shoulder.

It will never sit with someone in their grief.

It will never feel the subtle changes in tissue beneath its hands.

It will never witness the tears, the release, the relief, or the sacred moments that happen when one human truly sees another.

I believe we were created in the image of God, and part of that design includes connection, compassion, presence, and touch.

Jesus modeled all of those.

The healing isn’t mine.

The healing comes from God.

But I am deeply grateful to be able to use my hands, my heart, and my presence in service to others—just as we were created to do.

I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) by training and the founder of Heart Rooted Healing in Woodland Park, Colorado. Over the years, my own healing journey led me beyond symptom management and into the world of root-cause healing.
