Wow, wow, wow. 🌿✨

This entire weekend was spent moving out of my old office and setting roots into my new space inside Strength & Healing Massage Therapy. I got to add my own little Heart Rooted Healing flair, make the office feel like me, and begin settling into this beautiful new chapter.

Today was my very first day with clients—a mixture of in-person and virtual sessions—and there were already a few unmistakable God winks. šŸ¤

I stopped at The Human Bean for coffee, and the person helping me had previously worked for Jamie. She immediately began raving about how wonderful Jamie is—which, of course, we already know! Then Paige casually picked up the chalk and, without me even asking, created the sweetest Heart Rooted Healing sign in approximately 30 seconds.

Seriously…who is that talented?! 😭

It was such a small gesture, but it touched me deeply. I already feel so welcomed and supported by this community, and there is something about this space—and this chapter—that feels incredibly aligned.

My heart is full of gratitude for today, for every person who helped me get here, and for everything still to come.

The roots are going down…and I have a feeling something beautiful is getting ready to grow. šŸŒ±šŸ’š

I keep going back to Reacher. 🐓

I had the honor of riding him—and then holding his fascia through the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach. But somewhere in that exchange, it felt like Reacher gave me something too.

Medicine. Permission. A deeper kind of trust.

As I held him with gentle, sustained pressure, he began to thaw almost immediately. It was spiritual. Sacred. And somehow, this beautiful, powerful animal reminded me that I don’t have to force healing—or try to make the body do anything.

My job is to be present.
To listen with my hands.
To trust my intuitive touch.
To create enough safety and resonance for the body to trust itself.

Because the body already knows what it’s doing.

When it feels genuinely met—without force, judgment, or an agenda—it can finally release the brakes. And sometimes, the most profound unwinds and releases really can begin that simply.

I thought I was offering Reacher my hands that day.

But he gave me something I’ll carry into every person—and every body—I have the privilege of holding:

Trust the body. Hold the space. Let the healing unfold. 🌿

Let me introduce myself. 🌿

I’m Jen McNerney —Christian, believer, raised Catholic, and now walking a faith journey that is deeply grounded, spiritual, curious, and personal.

My husband and I were married within our church community at St. Monica in Santa Monica, California, and church communities have been meaningful parts of our story. But today, my faith and face-to-face community may look different from what some people expect.

Community doesn’t always happen within the four walls of a church.

Sometimes it looks like hiking with like-minded people and having soul-filled conversations on a mountain trail. Sometimes it’s serving my neighbors through Kiwanis. Sometimes it’s helping create a local health expo or joining forces with another healing practitioner to build a welcoming healing space right here in Woodland Park.

That is how I pour into my community, love people, serve, connect, and show up authentically as myself.

Because of the tools I use through Heart Rooted Healing—or because I’m not currently tied to one particular church—people may make assumptions about me, my faith, or where I believe healing comes from.

So let me be clear:

I believe God—the Creator—is the ultimate source of healing.

I also believe God created an extraordinary world filled with plants, minerals, sound, light, energy, movement, human touch, medicine, and an incredibly intelligent body designed with the capacity to move toward healing.

Essential oils, crystals, sound, frequencies, myofascial release, nervous-system work, muscle testing, and the other modalities I use are tools. They are not my God. They do not replace God, personal responsibility, appropriate medical care, or grounded discernment.

A tool can support healing without becoming the source of healing.

I don’t believe everything unfamiliar is evil—and I don’t believe everything labeled ā€œnaturalā€ or ā€œspiritualā€ is automatically helpful. I believe in the calm middle ground: prayer, curiosity, wisdom, education, discernment, and examining the fruit.

Fear says, ā€œReject it because I don’t understand it.ā€

Blind acceptance says, ā€œIt feels spiritual, so it must be good.ā€

Discernment says, ā€œLet me become grounded, pray, learn, and notice whether this leads toward love, truth, freedom, humility, and wholeness.ā€

For me, faith isn’t proven by occupying a particular building every Sunday. It is lived through how I love, serve, create, heal, connect, and show up for the people God places in front of me.

My faith is spacious enough for both soul + science—and secure enough that it doesn’t have to fear every tool in God’s creation. šŸ¤

This is Heart Rooted Healing: deeply rooted in faith, guided by discernment, devoted to service, and always curious about the beautiful ways God designed us to heal.

The face you make when you realize you’ve been trying to bully your fascia into healing. šŸ˜³šŸ˜‚

Meet the Master Blaster—because apparently, at one point in my healing journey, I thought my fascia needed to be handled like a clogged drain.

But we only know what we know when we know it—and now I know differently.

I’m incredibly grateful I discovered the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach. Fascia doesn’t respond best to being attacked, forced, or ā€œblasted.ā€ It responds to gentle, sustained pressure held over time—allowing the tissue to soften and release at its own pace.

Because fascia is a lot like me: the more aggressively you tell it to relax, the less likely it is to cooperate. šŸ˜‚

We live in a society that wants everything faster, harder, and immediately. But true healing often asks for the opposite: patience, safety, listening, and time.

So the Master Blaster is leaving my healing-tool collection. Part of me wants to donate it…and part of me thinks it should be ceremonially retired so no other fascia has to enter the witness-protection program. 🤣

No shame—just growth. When we learn better, we can choose differently. These days, I’m here for the true thaw—not the blast. 🌿

A CRA score is not a label—and it certainly isn’t a measure of someone’s worth. It’s simply an energetic snapshot of what may be showing up right now. 🌿

Within the Contact Reflex Analysis framework, this scoring system can be used to check in with many things: a physical, emotional or chemical stress pattern in the body, a relationship or work dynamic, or even the energetic fit of a potential place to move.

The beautiful part? We’re always asking:

✨ What could help bring this pattern to a 70 or above?
✨ What might support greater structure, boundaries or heart-centered alignment?
✨ What would move it optimally toward a 90?

Someone might begin a session resonating with a 40—injury or impact—and, through CRA testing and the body’s prioritized support, shift toward a 70, 80 or 90 within that session.

Nothing here is fixed. Energy moves. Circumstances change. The body responds. There is always room for greater balance and alignment. šŸ’š

And yes, I occasionally score things happening in my own life—not obsessively, because we do not need to give my ADHD another spreadsheet. šŸ˜‚ But it can be a fascinating way to pause, check in and ask:

What energy is present—and what could help it shift?

šŸ‘… PERSONAL STORY + PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION šŸ‘…

I’m a speech-language pathologist, yet it took 47 years for someone to identify my severe posterior tongue tie.

Because I was formula-fed, breastfeeding and latch difficulties weren’t available as early clues. Knowledge of posterior ties has also come a long way since I was a baby.

A tongue tie is a fascial restriction. Over time, my body compensated with crowded and inward-tilting teeth, a high and narrow palate, limited tongue space, swallowing difficulties, and airway and sleep concerns.

I initially had my tongue tie released, but my newly mobile tongue didn’t have enough room to function. My tongue was freer, but its ā€œhouseā€ was still too small. I began choking and aspirating on my own saliva.

I eventually underwent surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion with Dr. Moran. A LeFort I procedure reopened my fused palatal suture, and a titanium device gradually widened my palate. Braces followed.

This wasn’t simply about straight teeth—it was about creating space for my tongue and airway. My nasal breathing and sleep improved, and the pronounced bags under my eyes disappeared.

A release may be only one piece of the puzzle. Oral space, myofunctional support, bodywork, and follow-up matter too.

Speech. Swallowing. Fascia. Jaw development. Sleep. Airway.

It is all connected—and sometimes the missing piece has been hiding in plain sight for 47 years. 🌿

šŸ“– The book featured is Tongue-Tied by Dr. Richard Baxter. My podcast with Dr. Moran and a link to the book are in the comments.
