Prayers for Katelyn Fige Katelyn Fige was diagnosed 03/05/2015 with Brain Cancer (Pineoblastoma) School grades had dropped a lot. The tumor came as an pretty aggressive type.

After many trips to the doctors (then refeared us to a Nurologist-which then we were on a 5+ month waiting list to even get us in )and urgent care because Katelyn had been falling down, not walking stright at home and school and was not acting her normal self. After the final visit to the doctor and telling the doc that there is is no way Katelyn has the flu and there has to be something else goin

g on. On March 5 Katelyn was admited to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite. Where she got a CT and MRI to discover she had a Brain Tumor and a tremendous amout of fluid too. The Neurosurgeon said he would need to do a biopsy to learn more and to put a drain in so the fluid and pressure can be controlled. So then surgery was scheduled for March 13th to try to remove as much of the tumor at possible, they were able to remove 95% of it. That Thursday and Friday she was doing a lot of moving and waking up
On March 21st Katelyn had a small set back and had to be sedated and paralyzed (medically done) because her left lung collapsed and she had a air around her heart Radiation was schedules to begin on April 13th..5 days a week for 6 weeks with weekends off then soon after Chemo.

July is — a time to honor the parents who have lost a child to a brain tumor, and to remind them that their grief is seen, their love is remembered, and they are never alone.

When a child is lost to a brain tumor, the pain that follows is lifelong. So is PBTF's commitment to the families who carry it.

For 35 years, PBTF has walked alongside bereaved parents, caregivers, and siblings, offering peer-to-peer mentoring, emotional support, and spaces like Starry Night where families can memorialize their child and find community with others who understand.

None of this undoes the loss. But it means no parent has to carry it alone.

If you or someone you love is grieving, our community is here for you: curethekids.org/navigating-bereavement đź’™
