A thickened Achilles tendon usually doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s often the result of repeated stress, irritation, and tissue changes building up over time.

This patient had non-insertional Achilles tendonitis with visible bulbous thickening in the tendon. By the third Shockwave Therapy session, he was already starting to feel improvement, especially with those painful first steps in the morning.

That matters because morning pain is one of the most frustrating parts of chronic Achilles issues. A lot of patients describe feeling stiff, sore, or barely able to walk comfortably when they first get out of bed.

For this case, treatment focused on both radial and non-radial Shockwave Therapy to help stimulate healing directly in the irritated tendon tissue.

And while not every patient heals at the same pace, this is a good example of how chronic Achilles pain often needs more than rest and stretching alone.

In the free Healing the Heel webinar, Dr. Pelto explains why Achilles and heel pain can become chronic, what regenerative treatments are designed to do, and how patients can better understand what may be happening inside the tendon itself.

One of the hardest parts about heel pain is not knowing what to do next.

Should you rest more? Stretch more? Stop exercising?

Get different shoes? See a doctor? Try physical therapy?

Most people end up bouncing between random tips online without ever getting a clear plan.

That’s exactly why the Plantar Fasciitis Relief Blueprint™ was created.

This 14-day home program from Dr. Donald Pelto is designed to help people with mild to moderate heel pain better understand plantar fasciitis and learn practical home care strategies in a simple, guided format.

Instead of overwhelming you with complicated medical information, the program walks you through short, easy-to-follow lessons that explain:
• what plantar fasciitis is
• why heel pain can linger
• what habits may continue irritating the tissue
• and what home exercises and treatments may help

You’ll also get a downloadable guide, shoe recommendations, treatment resources, FAQs, and access to a comment section where questions can be answered directly by a podiatrist.

Because when you understand your heel pain better, you can start making more confident decisions about your recovery.

If going down the stairs hurts, your Achilles problem may be more serious than you think.

This patient had insertional Achilles pain for years. She had already tried three rounds of physical therapy, seen multiple providers, and still wasn’t getting better.

By the time she came in, the pain and swelling were affecting her daily life. She couldn’t walk down stairs normally anymore. She had to take it one foot at a time.

So instead of repeating treatments that had already failed, Dr. Pelto used a different approach: Shockwave Therapy with an amniotic injection to support healing in the painful Achilles area.

Three months later, the swelling had come down. The pain was gone when pressing on the area. She could walk the way she wanted again and navigate stairs without issues.

Chronic Achilles pain doesn’t always need more of the same. Sometimes, it needs a closer look and a better plan.

In the free Healing the Heel webinar, Dr. Pelto breaks down why heel and Achilles pain can linger, what common treatments may miss, and how options like Shockwave Therapy may help support recovery.

A painful bump on the back of your heel does NOT always mean surgery is your only option.

This patient came in after being told surgery was the answer for her Achilles pain.

And yes, surgery could remove the bump…

…but it doesn’t automatically guarantee the pain goes away.

So before rushing into surgery, we focused on:
• Shockwave Therapy
• physical therapy
• calf mobility
• reducing stress on the Achilles tendon

After six sessions?

She became virtually pain-free.

That’s why understanding the SOURCE of the pain matters so much.

Because sometimes it’s not just the bump causing the problem. It’s the irritated, overloaded tendon tissue around it.

If your heel or Achilles pain keeps coming back, you deserve to understand ALL your options before making a decision.

Why didn’t my surgery fix the pain?”

That’s one of the hardest questions patients ask after dealing with heel pain for months or years.

In this case, the bone spur surgery helped remove the spur…

…but it didn’t fully address the damaged Achilles tendon.

And when the tendon tissue stays thickened and unhealthy, the pain often plateaus or comes back.

That’s why imaging matters.
That’s why proper diagnosis matters.
And that’s why chronic heel pain needs more than guessing.

This patient had already tried:
• night splints
• stretching
• foam rolling
• physical therapy
• surgery

Before moving to regenerative therapies designed to stimulate tissue repair.

If your Achilles or heel pain keeps returning no matter what you try, it may be time to understand what’s REALLY driving the pain.

Most people with plantar fasciitis aren’t missing another stretch.

They’re missing the right explanation.

Because if your heel pain has lasted for months, there’s a good chance the issue is no longer just inflammation alone.

That’s why the same cycle keeps happening:
temporary relief → pain returns → try something else → repeat.

And honestly? It’s exhausting.

Especially when:
• the first steps in the morning hurt
• walking keeps irritating it
• standing all day makes it worse
• and nothing seems to LAST

In this reel, Dr. Pelto explains why chronic heel pain behaves differently and why temporary heel pain relief often stops working over time.

The free Healing the Heel webinar goes deeper into:
• what changes inside chronic plantar fascia tissue
• why heel pain keeps returning
• what common remedies may miss
• and how treatment approaches change once the tissue itself becomes damaged

If you’re tired of bouncing between random fixes without understanding the root issue, this webinar is a great place to start.

Still dealing with Achilles pain or plantar fasciitis months later?

At some point, it stops being “just soreness.”

If you’ve already tried stretching, rest, ice, supportive shoes, or physical therapy and your heel still hurts every morning, every walk, or every workout… your body may need more than temporary relief.

That’s where treatments like PRP, Amniotic injections, and Shockwave Therapy come in.

But here’s the frustrating part:

Most people have no idea what the difference is.

Which one helps inflammation?
Which one helps tissue repair?
Which one is non-invasive?
And which one makes sense for YOUR condition?

In our free Healing the Heel webinar, Dr. Donald Pelto explains why chronic heel pain can linger and how regenerative treatments may help support healing.

If you’re tired of Googling random solutions and hoping something works, start here.

Heel pain for weeks? That’s not “just getting older.” And it’s probably not something another random stretch video is going to fix.

Most people with plantar fasciitis get stuck because they’re doing a little bit of everything… with no clear plan.

They rest. Stretch here and there. Try new shoes.
It helps a little, then the pain comes right back.

That’s because plantar fasciitis isn’t just about doing more. It’s about doing the right things, in the right order.

Over time, the tissue in your heel becomes less tolerant to stress. And small daily habits, like the shoes you wear or how long you’re on your feet, can keep irritating it without you realizing it.

That’s why we created the Plantar Fasciitis Relief Blueprint™.

It’s a simple 14-day guided program designed by Dr. Donald Pelto to give you structure, clarity, and real direction.

Inside, you’ll get:

• Short daily videos (under 10 minutes)
• Easy, step-by-step stretches and exercises
• Shoe recommendations that actually make sense
• A treatment checklist so you know what to look for
• A place to ask questions and get real answers

It’s a great starting point if your pain is mild to moderate and you want to stop guessing.

Because the hardest part of heel pain isn’t always the pain…
It’s not knowing what to do next.

“Do I have to stop everything?”

That’s usually the first question people ask when they’re dealing with plantar fasciitis or Achilles pain.

And the answer isn’t as strict as most people think.

You don’t always have to stop being active… but you do have to be smart about it.

A good rule of thumb:

If you’re limping → stop
If there’s swelling → stop

Those are your body’s hard “no” signals.

But if you feel a little discomfort at the start of activity, and it loosens up as you go and doesn’t feel worse later or the next day, you can usually keep going.

The key is not pushing through worsening pain.

It’s staying active within your limits while following a treatment plan that actually helps you recover.

Because the goal isn’t just to rest.
It’s to heal and stay moving when you can.

If you’re unsure what’s safe for your specific case, it’s worth getting a plan in place.

Stepping on glass can seem minor at first, especially if the pain settles down.

But if even a tiny piece is left behind, it can stay embedded and cause ongoing discomfort or infection.

Start by cleaning the area well with soap and warm water.

If you can clearly see the glass, you can try to gently remove it with clean tweezers. But if you’re unsure, it’s better not to dig around too much. That can push it deeper.

If it still feels like something is there, soaking it in warm water with Epsom salt can help.

But here’s what really matters: Don’t wait too long to have it checked.

We prefer to see these within a few days while we can still follow the entry point. Once the skin starts to heal over, removing even a small piece becomes much more difficult.

If it still hurts, feels like something is stuck, or just doesn’t feel right, trust that feeling.
