👻🎃 What a BOO-tiful day we had at our Dublin Trunk or Treat yesterday! 🎃👻

We absolutely LOVED seeing all the smiling faces, creative costumes, and Halloween fun! 🍬🧡 It was a spooktacular day filled with laughter, games, and wonderful memories!

A special THANK YOU to Embassy Suites by Hilton Columbus Dublin for hosting us! 💙

We also want to give a HUGE shout-out to the busload of OSU students who joined us and set up fun games for our families, as well as The Central Ohio Ghostbusters and Heroes Alliance Ohio for helping make the day extra special! 👻

Last but certainly not least, a heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers who decorated their trunks, passed out candy, and helped make this event such a success! We couldn't have done it without you! 🍬🎃

We Want To Hear From You, Your Voice Matters: Listening Session!

What: ASCO and ElevateDD are hosting a listening session to hear directly from people with developmental disabilities and families about their experiences with disability services and supports in Ohio.

Who: This event is open to individuals of all ages, including self-advocates, family members, caregivers, and community professionals connected to the DD community, especially those with no formal advocacy experience.

Why: We want to hear what is working, what has been difficult to navigate, what supports may be missing, and what you think needs greater attention. What you share will be part of a broader statewide effort to identify common themes and help inform future advocacy, planning, and systems-improvement work.

Monday, October 19th, 6:30-8:00 pm
Westerville Community Center

Multi Purpose Room 1

We are looking to identify:
What is working well
What is difficult to understand or navigate
What services or supports are missing
Where people continue to encounter barriers
What people wish providers, disability organizations, policymakers, and system leaders better understood

Depending on the group, topics could include early intervention, education and IEPs, healthcare and therapies, Medicaid and waivers, respite, transportation, employment, housing, adult services, caregiver needs, transitions across the lifespan, community inclusion, and advocacy. We will look across what we hear to identify recurring themes, priorities, barriers, strengths, and opportunities that can inform community voice briefs, future planning, advocacy, and systems-improvement conversations.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! As we celebrate our friends at DSACO: Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio, we wanted to share some facts with you as we celebrate and advocate throughout the month! ❤

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and we're excited to share some weekly facts as we celebrate and advocate this month.

October gives us another opportunity to shine a light on the unique abilities and achievements of people with Down syndrome, while also working to challenge outdated perceptions and eliminate barriers.

This month, we’re reminded that inclusion happens in everyday moments, from classrooms and workplaces to neighborhoods and social spaces. It means challenging outdated perceptions, creating meaningful opportunities, and making sure people with Down syndrome are seen for who they are and what they bring to their communities.
