Doug and Amanda are enjoying a special trip to Kazanlak, Bulgaria—known as the valley of the roses as dōTERRA Founders 2.0.
Did you know Bulgaria is a very important part of dōTERRA? Some of our favorite oils are grown here — lavender, melissa, yarrow and of course rose essential oil. We also ship frankincense and myrrh from Somaliland, to be distilled here. Though it’s our second visit here we continue to learn so much and it’s so cool to see how Terra Roza distillery has changed in 3 years.
We’ve learned a lot about rose on this trip. Getting Rose oil is an incredibly labor-intensive process that requires a lot of work. Local harvesters wake up and start picking rose petals at 5:00 a.m. and they can harvest until noon each day to insure the roses are picked while the early morning dew is still present. This helps optimize both the fragrance and chemical complexity of the oil.
It takes about 88 pounds of rose petals to produce a single 5 ml bottle of Rose essential oil. And the rose harvest season only goes for about 3 weeks each year but the work dōTERRA does in Bulgaria makes a lasting impact.
We are so grateful for the time we got to spend with amazing leaders and people from the corporate office. There is nothing better than seeing people’s lives improved with products and the opportunity. We are here at The Daily Apple to help you with both! Stop in and smell the queen of oils — rose! You can get a free roller this month with a qualifying order! Want to help us share natural products with more people? Send us a message to schedule a meeting with Amanda.
