🩸 CGM EXPERIMENT UPDATE:

Stelo vs. Lingo

I’m currently wearing two CGMs at the same time—a Stelo by Dexcom on one arm and a Lingo by Abbott on the other.

Why these two?

I’m especially interested in Stelo because it connects with my Oura Ring, allowing me to look at glucose alongside things like sleep, activity, stress and recovery.

I’m testing Lingo because it’s another accessible, affordable CGM option available without a prescription.

Ultimately, I want to actually use these tools, compare them and understand the data before deciding what I feel comfortable recommending to others.

Both sensors are brand new and placed in the same location on opposite arms, making this little experiment as consistent as possible.

And breakfast gave me something interesting to watch. 👀

At one point after eating:
🔹 Stelo: 146 mg/dL
🔹 Lingo: 113 mg/dL
➡️ A 33-point difference!

Just 30 minutes later:
🔹 Stelo: 99 mg/dL
🔹 Lingo: 101 mg/dL
➡️ Only a 2-point difference.

CGMs measure glucose in interstitial fluid rather than directly in the blood, so differences in timing, sensor technology and algorithms can influence what we’re seeing—especially when glucose is changing.

So I’m adding another layer to the experiment…

👉 A fingerstick.

The next time I see a significant difference, I’ll check my blood glucose with a fingerstick and compare all three:

Stelo | Lingo | Fingerstick

I’m not looking at one number and declaring a winner. I want to see which device most consistently captures the rise, peak, timing and return toward baseline after eating.

Two weeks. Two sensors. And now a third data point. 🩸📈

Stay tuned… this experiment is already getting interesting! 👀

Wednesday MIXFIT — strong from every angle!

This morning’s class was all about combining strength, stability, mobility & core into movements that challenge the whole body.

🔥 Core work with the stability BOSU

🔥 Loaded step-ups for legs, balance & power

🔥 Posterior-chain strength paired with shoulder mobility

🔥 Chair combinations that brought strength, coordination & control together

MIXFIT isn’t about doing the same workout over and over—it’s about moving your body in different ways, building real-life strength, and continuing to challenge yourself.

And yes… we managed to have a little fun while doing it. 😉

AND Jennifer Baumgart busted the blue band with all her strength & earned her ONE DOLLAR reward!
YAH-WHOO! 💪🏽💥

Hops!

Look at these ladies FLY! 💪🏽💥

Today’s Power Up class included some quick jump sessions-and there’s a reason I love keeping power and explosiveness in our training, especially through midlife.

As we age, we don’t just want to maintain strength—we want to maintain our ability to move quickly, react, generate force, and stay athletic.

Jumping and power-based training can help us work on:
⚡ Power & explosiveness
💪 Strong muscles & bones
🔥 Athleticism
⚖️ Balance, coordination & confidence
❤️ And the ability to keep doing the things we LOVE!

And remember—power training doesn’t have to mean big jumps.
There are always modifications and progressions to meet you where you are.

Midlife isn’t the time to stop challenging your body. It’s the time to train it for what’s ahead.

These ladies embraced the challenge today.

LOOK AT THAT AIR! 👏🔥

🩸 MIDLIFE, MENOPAUSE & BLOOD SUGAR… let’s talk about it.

One of the lesser-talked-about changes during perimenopause and menopause is that our insulin sensitivity may change.

As estrogen fluctuates and eventually declines, we may see changes in:

👉🏽How efficiently our bodies use insulin
👉🏽Blood glucose responses after meals
👉🏽Where we store body fat—particularly visceral fat
👉🏽Muscle mass and how effectively our muscles utilize glucose
👉🏽The impact of stress, sleep and recovery on blood sugar

Does this mean menopause automatically results in insulin resistance?

Absolutely not.

But it does mean this is another piece of midlife health worth understanding.

And because I love a good experiment… 🔬

For the next 2 weeks, I’m wearing TWO different continuous glucose monitors—one on each arm.

Same body.
Same meals.
Same workouts.
Same sleep.
Same hormones.
➡️ Two different CGMs.

I’ll be watching how closely they agree, where they differ, ease of use, comfort, trends around meals and exercise, and which one I ultimately find most useful.

And remember: a glucose spike by itself isn’t automatically “bad.”

Context matters.
What we eat, when we eat, movement, muscle, sleep, stress—and yes, our changing hormones—all play a role.

My biggest takeaway for midlife women?

💪 MUSCLE MATTERS.

Skeletal muscle is one of our most important places for glucose disposal, which gives us yet another reason to prioritize resistance training, daily movement, adequate protein, fiber-rich whole foods and recovery as we move through midlife.

I’ll share what I learn over these next two weeks—including the good, the confusing and which CGM comes out on top. 📈

Anyone curious to see what TWO CGMs say about the exact same body at the exact same time? Stay tuned. 👀

One word?

If you could describe today’s class in one word, which one would you pick? A M A Z I N G 😝

Today’s MIXFIT was our “advanced” class—but with a little twist! 💪🏽💥

We took out the beeps, ditched the pressure of the clock, and focused on moving at your own pace while still challenging strength, conditioning, and stamina.

And you know what? It seemed to work GREAT! 🙌

Sometimes advancing your fitness isn’t about going faster—it’s about learning how to push when you can, adjust when you need to, and own your workout.

Strong work this morning, crew! 🔥

Your pace. Your challenge. Your progress.

POWER UP

We kicked things off with offset push-ups, that moved into single-sided kettlebell work—challenging strength, stability, and core control.

For conditioning, we MIXED it up with banded shuffles and cranked our intervals up to 90 seconds and TWO minutes! 😅🔥

Strong. Challenging. Never boring. Training for life!

🥁 WEDNESDAY MORNING MIXFIT! 💪🏽💥

Today we brought the strength + conditioning—but with a little MIXFIT twist!

We built strength, challenged our conditioning, and stepped outside the ordinary with drumming, Equalizer combinations, and plenty of movement that challenged both the body AND the brain.

That’s what MIXFIT is all about:
🔥 Getting stronger
🥁 Trying something different
💪 Challenging your body in new ways
😅 Working hard
❤️ And ALWAYS making it fun!

Because fitness doesn’t have to be boring to be effective. We train for life, we build stronger bodies, and we have a pretty darn good time doing it!

Ready to get STRONG → STRONGER? Come join us. There’s always room to start, grow, and have some fun along the way!
