Health care that not only addresses urgent medical needs like ear infections and tummy aches but also leaves enough time to discuss the choices and habits that lead to a better quality of life: your lifestyle. Here you will have plenty of time to ask questions and also learn ways to optimize the health of your family for quality and longevity. The truth is that the body has the inherent capacity to heal itself. As your physician, I am here to guide and educate. I can advise based on my education, training and experience, but I will also respect your choices and beliefs. Each family and individual is different, and we are each on a unique journey through life. At Nourish Wellness, I provide you with the tools and knowledge, and YOU choose what you feel is best for your children and family.

In pediatrics, the p**p talk never really ends. 💩😂

And lately, we’ve been talking about it a little more than usual! Viral gastroenteritis (the “stomach bug”) is going around, with vomiting and diarrhea that can last a few days. We’re also seeing some children with prolonged diarrhea.

Stomach bugs are commonly caused by viruses and spread easily through contact with vomit or diarrhea, unwashed hands, and contaminated food or surfaces. Most children improve with supportive care, with hydration being especially important.

When your child is sick or hurt, it can be hard to know what’s serious.

Here are ten signs to go straight to the nearest Emergency Room or call 911:

1. Lethargy or Unusual Behavior
2. Respiratory Distress
3. Seizure Activity
4. Fever in a Baby Under 2 Months
5. Fever with Neck Stiffness and/or Severe Headache
6. Head Injury
7. Injury with Suspected Broken Bone.
8. Lacerations or Uncontrolled Bleeding9. Serious Burns
10. Severe Allergic Reaction

Save this post as a quick reference for signs that may require a trip to the ER or a call to 911.

Remember: you know your child best. If something feels seriously wrong, trust your instincts and seek help.
