Gentell’s September 2026 Wound Care Insider provides insights about the critical role of nutrition in wound healing. Residents in long-term care are at increased risk for malnutrition due to factors such as poor appetite, chronic illness, dementia, swallowing difficulties, infections, medications, and unplanned weight loss. These challenges can increase nutritional requirements while making it more difficult for residents to consume the nutrients needed for wound healing.

Last week Gentell and the KB Foundation organized a field trip for Philadelphia area high school students to visit and shadow workers at the Gentell manufacturing facility in Toronto. During their visit students were able to see Gentell’s Optima Machine mass produce a variety of wound care dressings and how these products go through Quality Control and get packaged for distribution. Gentell has been working with and supporting the KB Foundation for several years and this was a good opportunity for students to travel and learn more about manufacturing operations and careers in the medical device industry.

Brazilian professional motorcycle racer Thiago Fantozzi competes in one of the world’s toughest motorsports, where extreme terrain, long distances, and demanding conditions can take a toll on the body. He has competed in the Dakar Rally and Rally dos Sertões, including a Rally dos Sertões stage victory over internationally renowned riders. When injuries happen, Thiago uses Gentell wound care products as part of his recovery—and he proudly displays the Gentell logo on his racing uniform as he takes on the challenge. Gentell’s August 2026 Wound Insider provides a comprehensive overview of the different types of debridement and the importance of accurate documentation. Medicare Regulation F686 states that wounds should have documented assessments every 7 days, and each wound should have documentation of debridement at least once during the lifetime of the wound. It is ideal to routinely document debridement of wounds and update the level of debridement as needed with the highest level of debridement currently in progress.
