Gentell’s June 2026 Wound Care Insider addresses skin, wound, and risk assessments that need to be completed when a new resident is admitted to a long-term care (LTC) facility in order to identify and document pre-existing conditions and to generate an effective care plan for the resident. These assessments have a positive impact on resident health and also help facilities prevent legal issues related to delays in treatment and failure to properly identify and document signs of infection and other pre-existing wound conditions. Last month Gentell coordinated a large-scale in-service program that provided training to 32 facilities owned by a large corporate nursing home chain in California. These interactive sessions focused on prevention strategies, skin identification, and practical wound care knowledge that attendees can immediately apply in their facilities. The education and training was designed for Licensed Nurses, CNAs, Directors of Nursing (DON’s), Staff Development Directors (DSDs), and treatment nurses.

Feedback from attendees has been extremely positive. Facilities value the opportunity to receive live, hands-on education from wound care experts, and participants reported that the training is practical, engaging, and highly relevant to their day-to-day responsibilities. Gentell conducts these sessions throughout the U.S. to help facilities improve clinical outcomes more quickly while strengthening staff confidence and skills.
