World Mental Health Day is Saturday, October 10.

As we approach this day, it's a good reminder that taking care of your mental health doesn't have to mean making a huge change. It can mean getting more rest, setting a boundary, talking with someone you trust, spending time outside, asking for help, or simply giving yourself permission to acknowledge that something has been hard. Small acts of self care matter, too🌱

Sometimes we get so used to carrying stress, worry, sadness, or exhaustion that we stop noticing how much we're carrying.

Take a moment today to check in with yourself: How are you really doing?

Not how you're supposed to be doing.
Not how everyone else thinks you're doing.
But, how are YOU doing?

And if the answer isn't great, that doesn't mean you've failed. It may simply mean something in you needs some attention and care.

This is Mental Illness Awareness Week

A time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind ourselves that mental health deserves the same care and attention we give our physical health.

You don't have to be in crisis to care for your mental health. Sometimes it starts with noticing that you're not feeling quite like yourself, acknowledging that something has been difficult, or reaching out for a little support.

You don't have to navigate everything alone.❣️

🍂 A new month can be a good time to pause and check in with yourself.

As October begins, take a moment to ask: How am I really doing? What do I need more of, and what might I need less of?

You don't have to wait for a crisis to take care of your mental health. Sometimes a little awareness is the first step toward making a meaningful change.

How many versions of yourself do you have?

I've been thinking lately about how hard it can be to show up as ourselves.

Maybe you're one way with your family, another way with friends, and yet another way at work. Does that mean you're being inauthentic?

Not necessarily.

Sometimes we learn to adapt because it helps us feel safe or accepted. We become good at reading the room and adjusting ourselves to fit.

But sometimes, we're simply multidimensional people. Maybe you're a bit of a chameleon or a multipotentialite, and different environments genuinely bring out different parts of you.

Perhaps the question isn't “Why am I different around different people?” but:
“Do I feel free to be myself, even when I choose to adapt?”

There's a difference between adapting because you want to and adapting because you feel you have to.🤔

Caring for Yourself as the Seasons Change.
Late summer and early fall are a favorite time of year for many in Ohio, but for some, the shorter days and increasingly gray skies have a negative impact on mood and energy.

If you notice your mood or energy shifting as the seasons change, my latest blog post offers some things to consider and ways you can support your well-being during the transition. Read the full post here:

Having Fun with Mindfulness✨

It doesn't have to mean sitting quietly for 20 minutes. Take a moment to notice what you see, hear, smell, feel, taste. That's mindfulness!

A note about the photo, aside from being super cute, I love how animals are always in the present moment. They aren't thinking about yesterday or tomorrow.

I love helping people notice strengths they sometimes overlook.

The patience they've developed.
The hard things they've survived.
The ways they've kept going.

Sometimes, healing begins with recognizing what is already there.
