So many symptoms like leakage and pain are dismissed, ignored or normalized as just part of having a v***a, being of a certain age, or having had a baby.

These symptoms can arise at any age regardless of whether or not you’ve had a baby.

While they’re very common, they should not be dismissed or ignored. They can impact life in so many big and small ways and they don’t need to anymore!

Pelvic PT is great at addressing these issues and more. And if you land in the office and we find that you need other care, we’ll help you get to the right providers.

So reach out to your local Pelvic Floor PT for help. If you’re close to York, ME, I would love to help you!

Here are a handful of reasons why people have come to see me for Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy this week.

I share this because many people don’t know much about pelvic PT or why someone would come to see me. The pelvis and care of the pelvis remains a mystery to many.

If you’re in that camp, know that you’re not alone and follow along to learn more.

Comment below or DM me with your pelvic floor questions!

I have not shared much about my fertility journey here because I’m still very much in it and I’m just not ready to share it all publicly yet. But... this one I had to share just in case anyone else is in a similar situation.

I did my research, looked through my plan options, talked with a broker, and decided on a health insurance plan with Harvard Pilgrim (HP) through the marketplace.

As we jumped through the insurance hoops to get our second egg harvesting procedure approved at the start of this year, we were told by our healthcare team that HP informed them we have a 2 cycle lifetime max. I thought, ideally this round will work and we won’t have to worry about it.

It didn’t.

Once I emerged from the grief of that, I had our team reach out to HP to confirm that we’d maxed out our benefit. HP couldn’t give the team an answer and said I needed to call... Sounded fishy to me!

The person I spoke with at HP said I had authorization for 4 egg harvesting procedures. I mentioned this differed from the 2 lifetime max that they had told my team earlier in the year and wanted to make sure we had all of the correct information.
I spent hours of time on hold as they talked with all their teams and after multiple phone calls, I received word that it was a 2 cycle lifetime max and no additional egg harvesting procedures would be covered.

But... while I was doing all of that waiting, I was also researching.
I came across the state of Maine Standards for Fertility Care which says insurance has to cover a minimum of 4 egg harvesting procedures. I called the number on the bottom of the document and spoke with an incredibly helpful human who confirmed they are required to cover 4 egg harvesting procedures. This person sent links to the standards that back up this and more, and sent me a link to file a complaint with the state if HP decides to deny the claim.

A handful of goals that brought people into my office this week. Two people may have the same diagnosis or even the same symptoms but how it shows up in their life if often vastly different. This means their goals are different and their treatments are different. Pelvic PT at Brittany Lee Wellness is all about what YOU want and need.

As the year turns, it can be tempting to focus on what didn’t happen or what still feels unfinished.

There is much pressure to start something new, fix something, become someone different.

And yet… it’s winter.
A season that invites slowing down, tending inward, and noticing what’s already here.

Before rushing ahead, pause and reflect:
What are you proud of from 2025?
What are you grateful for from this year?
What did you tend, survive, learn, or soften into—often without realizing it?

From that place of fullness, you might gently ask yourself:
What do I want to be proud of at the end of 2026?

Not from urgency or self-criticism—but from care.
From curiosity.
From a desire for more ease, more pleasure, more joy in your body and your life.

Your health—physical, emotional, nervous system—gets to be something you tend to not because something is wrong, but because you matter.

If giving your body and your well-being a little more time and attention this year feels supportive, I’d love to walk alongside you. There’s no rush—just a chance to begin right where you are whenever you are ready.

So many of these habits start quietly.
They don’t feel like “a problem” — they just feel like what you do.

You p*e before and after class because it feels safer.
You step out midway because listening to your body has started to mean planning around it.
You choose black leggings “just in case.”
You hold mula bandha the entire class — even in savasana — because letting go feels risky or your just not sure how.
And when a teacher cues “engage your pelvic floor,” you’re already clenching or completely unsure what that actually means.

Here’s the thing:
These are often compensations, not personal failures — and they’re incredibly common.

Many people adapt to pelvic floor symptoms so gradually that they start to feel normal.
But leaking, urgency, constant holding, or confusion about what’s even happening down there aren’t things you just have to live with.

Pelvic floor physical therapy isn’t about tightening or fixing you —
it’s about awareness, coordination, strength AND relaxation, so you can move, breathe, and rest without constantly managing your body.

If any of these slides made you think, “Wait… I do that,”
that might be your sign that your pelvic floor could use some support 🤍

You deserve to feel at ease in your body — on and off the mat.
