๐ŸŒธ Why Do Menstrual Cramps Happen? ๐ŸŒธ

Many women are told that menstrual cramps are simply a normal part of life. While menstrual contractions are certainly a normal part of the menstrual cycle, severe cramping often involves much more than the uterus alone.

During menstruation, the uterus contracts to help shed its lining. These contractions are triggered by hormone-like substances called prostaglandins. Higher levels of prostaglandins can cause stronger uterine contractions, leading to pain, cramping, nausea, fatigue, and discomfort.

But there is another important piece of the puzzle that is often overlooked.

The uterus does not exist in isolation. It is suspended within the pelvis by ligaments, surrounded by fascia, and closely connected to the pelvic floor muscles, abdominal muscles, hips, low back, bladder, and surrounding organs.

When the fascia and muscles of the pelvis become tight and restricted, they can place additional tension on the structures surrounding the uterus. This may contribute to:

โœ”๏ธ More intense menstrual cramping
โœ”๏ธ Low back pain during menstruation
โœ”๏ธ Pelvic pressure and heaviness
โœ”๏ธ Pain into the hips or thighs
โœ”๏ธ Increased pelvic floor tension
โœ”๏ธ Longer recovery after each cycle

Previous surgeries, falls, childbirth, endometriosis, pelvic injuries, chronic stress, inflammation, and scar tissue can all contribute to these restrictions.

At Bruck Therapy Myofascial Release, treatment focuses on identifying and releasing fascial restrictions throughout the abdomen, pelvis, hips, low back, and pelvic floor. As these tissues soften and regain mobility, many women experience less tension throughout the pelvis and a noticeable reduction in menstrual discomfort.

While Myofascial Release is not a cure for every cause of menstrual pain, many women report that their cycles become significantly more comfortable after addressing the fascial restrictions that have been contributing to pelvic tension for years.

โœจ Client Success Story:
โ€œI honestly thought painful periods were just something I had to live with. After three sessions at Bruck Therapy, my cramps became noticeably less severe, my low back pain improved, and for the first time in years I wasnโ€™t dreading my monthly cycle. ๐Ÿ” The Hardest Working Muscles Youโ€™ve Probably Never Heard Of ๐Ÿ”
Most people can name their biceps, quadriceps, or hamstrings. Far fewer have ever heard of the paraspinal muscles, despite relying on them every minute of every day.

These muscles run alongside your spine from the base of your skull to your pelvis. They are constantly working behind the scenes to keep you upright, balanced, and moving efficiently.

Think about it:
โœ”๏ธ Sitting at your desk? Your paraspinals are working.
โœ”๏ธ Standing in line at the store? Theyโ€™re working.
โœ”๏ธ Driving, walking, lifting, bending, or reaching? Theyโ€™re working.

Unlike many muscles that get periods of rest, the paraspinals are active almost continuously throughout the day.

Over time, this constant workload can take a toll.

When these muscles become excessively tight or restricted by fascial tension, they may begin pulling on the spine, ribs, shoulders, and pelvis. The result can be a surprisingly wide variety of symptoms:

โ€ข A feeling of constant back fatigue
โ€ข Difficulty standing fully upright
โ€ข Morning stiffness
โ€ข Aching between the shoulder blades
โ€ข Neck tension
โ€ข Reduced flexibility
โ€ข Low back discomfort after sitting
โ€ข A feeling that your back is always โ€œworking too hardโ€

Many people assume these symptoms are simply a normal part of aging. In reality, they may be signs that the muscles and fascia surrounding the spine have become restricted and are no longer functioning efficiently.

Myofascial Release addresses these restrictions by applying gentle, sustained pressure to the fascial system and underlying muscles. As tension patterns begin to soften, the spine often moves more freely, posture improves, and the body no longer has to work so hard just to maintain an upright position.

Sometimes the muscles that hurt the most arenโ€™t injured at allโ€”theyโ€™re simply exhausted from years of carrying more tension than they were designed to handle.

๐ŸŒฟ Is Bursitis Causing Your Pain? It Might Not Be The Entire Story. ๐ŸŒฟ

Many people are diagnosed with bursitis and are told that the small fluid-filled sac near a joint has become inflamed. While that is certainly true, what often gets overlooked is why that inflammation developed in the first place.

A bursa acts like a cushion between muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones, helping these structures glide smoothly during movement. When excessive pressure, friction, or repetitive stress is placed on a bursa, it can become irritated and inflamed.

๐ŸŽฏ Common causes of bursitis include:
โœ”๏ธ Repetitive movements at work or during sports
โœ”๏ธ Poor posture and body mechanics
โœ”๏ธ Tight muscles pulling excessively on tendons
โœ”๏ธ Fascial restrictions creating abnormal tension around a joint
โœ”๏ธ Previous injuries, falls, or accidents
โœ”๏ธ Prolonged pressure on a joint
โœ”๏ธ Compensation patterns from old injuries elsewhere in the body

๐Ÿ‘‰ Common symptoms may include:
โ€ข Aching or burning pain around a joint
โ€ข Tenderness when touched
โ€ข Swelling or warmth
โ€ข Stiffness and limited range of motion
โ€ข Increased pain with movement
โ€ข Difficulty sleeping on the affected side

Bursitis commonly affects the shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, and heel, but the underlying muscular and fascial restrictions contributing to that irritation are often located well beyond the painful area itself.

๐Ÿ’ก This is where Myofascial Release can help.

At Bruck Therapy Myofascial Release, we evaluate the entire body to identify the tension patterns that may be creating excessive pulling and compression around the affected bursa. By gently releasing tight fascia and muscles, we can often reduce the mechanical stress contributing to the irritation, improve movement, and help the body return to a healthier, more balanced state.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Client Success Story

โ€œI had been dealing with hip bursitis for nearly two years. Walking, climbing stairs, and even sleeping on my side had become painful. After several Myofascial Release sessions, the constant ache gradually disappeared and I was able to return to my normal activities without discomfort. ๐ŸŒฟ Could The Front Of Your Neck Be Causing More Problems Than You Realize? ๐ŸŒฟ

When people think about neck pain, they usually focus on the muscles in the back of the neck. However, the muscles and fascia located in the FRONT of the neck can create a surprising number of symptoms throughout the body when they become tight and restricted.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The front of the neck contains important muscles such as the sternocleidomastoid (SCM), scalenes, platysma, infrahyoid muscles, and numerous fascial layers that surround critical nerves, blood vessels, the throat, and airway.

When these structures become tight, they can contribute to:
โœ”๏ธ Neck pain and stiffness
โœ”๏ธ Tension headaches and migraines
โœ”๏ธ Jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction
โœ”๏ธ Dizziness and balance issues
โœ”๏ธ Difficulty turning the head
โœ”๏ธ Pain between the shoulder blades
โœ”๏ธ Numbness and tingling into the arms and hands
โœ”๏ธ Thoracic Outlet Syndrome symptoms
โœ”๏ธ A sensation of throat tightness or difficulty swallowing
โœ”๏ธ Forward head posture and poor alignment

Many people spend hours each day looking down at phones, tablets, and computers. Over time, this posture can place tremendous strain on the muscles and fascia along the front of the neck, creating chronic tension patterns that continue long after the activity has ended.

๐ŸŽฏ At Bruck Therapy Myofascial Release, we use gentle, sustained pressure to release restrictions within the muscles and fascia of the neck. As these tissues soften and lengthen, pressure on surrounding structures is reduced, posture often improves, movement becomes easier, and many clients experience significant relief from long-standing symptoms.

Sometimes the source of your headaches, arm symptoms, jaw discomfort, or chronic neck tension may not be where you feel the painโ€”it may be hidden within the tight fascia and muscles along the front of the neck.

๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ Shin Splints: More Than Just Sore Legs ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Saturday, I was doing some shopping when I foolishly kicked the front of my lower leg into a steel object. I am recovering nicely but it was an excruciating reminder that I should write a post about shin splints.

If youโ€™ve ever experienced a sharp, aching, or burning pain along the front or inside of your lower leg during walking, running, hiking, or exercise, you may have suffered from a condition commonly known as shin splints.

Shin splints typically develop when the muscles, tendons, and fascia attached to the shin bone (tibia) become excessively tight and begin pulling on the tissues surrounding the bone. These symptoms are often caused by:
โœ”๏ธ Overuse from running or walking
โœ”๏ธ Sudden increases in exercise intensity
โœ”๏ธ Tight calf muscles
โœ”๏ธ Tight hamstrings and quadriceps
โœ”๏ธ Poor foot mechanics or fallen arches
โœ”๏ธ Inadequate recovery after activity
โœ”๏ธ Fascial restrictions throughout the legs and pelvis

People with shin splints often describe the pain as a dull ache, tenderness, throbbing, or burning sensation along the lower leg. In more advanced cases, the discomfort can become severe enough to limit daily activities and exercise.

What many people donโ€™t realize is that the problem isnโ€™t always located directly where the pain is felt. Tight fascia and muscles throughout the calves, feet, thighs, hips, and pelvis can create abnormal pulling forces that place tremendous stress on the tissues surrounding the shin bone.

Myofascial Release works by gently releasing these restrictions and restoring normal mobility throughout the entire kinetic chain.

As tension decreases, pressure on the lower leg tissues is reduced, allowing the body to heal naturally and often eliminating the pain that has been lingering for weeks, months, or even years.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œI struggled with shin splints every time I tried to exercise. After two sessions with Kevin, I was walking and exercising comfortably again without the constant pain.โ€ โ€” Ron R., Dallastown, PA

๐ŸŽพ Tennis Elbow Isnโ€™t Just For Tennis Players ๐ŸŽพ

Despite its name, Tennis Elbow (also called Lateral Epicondylitis) affects far more people than just athletes.

Tennis Elbow occurs when the muscles and connective tissues that control your wrist and fingers become overworked and develop excessive tension where they attach to the outside of the elbow. Repetitive gripping, lifting, typing, painting, gardening, using tools, childcare activities, and many other daily tasks can contribute to the condition.

Common symptoms include:
โœ”๏ธ Pain on the outside of the elbow
โœ”๏ธ Difficulty gripping objects
โœ”๏ธ Weakness when lifting items
โœ”๏ธ Pain when shaking hands
โœ”๏ธ Discomfort when turning a doorknob or opening jars
โœ”๏ธ Aching that may travel into the forearm or wrist

Many people are surprised to learn that the actual source of the problem is often not located directly at the elbow itself.

The muscles responsible for moving the wrist and fingers extend throughout the forearm. When these muscles and their surrounding fascia become tight, shortened, or restricted, they create excessive pulling forces on the tendons attaching to the elbow.

Over time, this constant tension can lead to irritation, inflammation, and pain.

๐ŸŒฟ How Can Myofascial Release Help?

Myofascial Release works by applying gentle, sustained pressure into the restricted muscles and fascia throughout the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, upper arm, shoulder, chest, and even the neck when necessary.

As these restrictions soften and lengthen:
โœ… Tension on the elbow decreases
โœ… Mobility improves
โœ… Grip strength often returns
โœ… Inflammation may decrease
โœ… Pain frequently becomes significantly reduced or eliminated

Because the body functions as a connected system, addressing only the painful area often provides temporary relief. Finding and releasing the underlying restrictions throughout the entire chain is often the key to lasting improvement.

If Tennis Elbow is interfering with your work, hobbies, exercise routine, or daily activities,
Myofascial Release may be able to help.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Why Do I Feel Like I'm Walking With The Brakes On? ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Have you ever felt stiff when getting out of bed, struggled to bend over comfortably, or noticed that your stride seems shorter than it used to be?

One possible culprit may be your hamstrings.

Located along the back of your thighs, the hamstrings act like powerful guide wires between your hips and knees. Every step you take, every time you sit down, stand up, climb stairs, or bend forward, your hamstrings are hard at work.

The problem begins when these muscles and the surrounding fascia become tight and restricted.
When that happens, your body often compensates by changing the way you move. Over time, tight hamstrings can contribute to:

๐Ÿ”น Persistent low back tension
๐Ÿ”น Hip stiffness and reduced mobility
๐Ÿ”น Difficulty touching your toes
๐Ÿ”น Increased strain on the knees
๐Ÿ”น Poor posture and pelvic imbalance
๐Ÿ”น A feeling of heaviness or tightness when walking

Many people assume they simply need more stretching.

Unfortunately, if the fascia surrounding the muscles has become restricted, stretching alone may provide only temporary relief.

Myofascial Release takes a different approach. By gently addressing both the muscles and the fascia, restrictions can begin to soften and lengthen, allowing the body to move more naturally and efficiently.

Many clients are surprised to discover that when their hamstrings finally relax, their back, hips, knees, and even their posture often improve as well.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Client Quote:
"I originally came in because my low back was constantly aching. Kevin discovered that my hamstrings were incredibly tight. After several treatments, I was standing straighter, walking easier, and my back pain was gone."

๐ŸŒฟ A Diagnosis Is Not The Final Word ๐ŸŒฟ

Medical professionals play an important role in helping us understand and treat illness, and we are grateful for their knowledge, skill, and dedication. Yet when a diagnosis brings fear, uncertainty, or discouragement, it is important to remember that a diagnosis describes a conditionโ€”it does not define God's power.

As a believer, I know that God is greater than any medical report. He sees every struggle, every prayer, every sleepless night, and every tear. Sometimes healing comes through medical treatment.

Sometimes it comes gradually over time. Sometimes God provides strength, peace, and grace for the journey. In every circumstance, He remains faithful.

If you or someone you love is facing a health challenge today, do not lose hope. Continue to pray, trust, and believe that God is still at work. No diagnosis is bigger than God. No illness is beyond His reach. No situation is beyond His care.

At Bruck Therapy, myofascial release is not just my career, it is my ministry! My hands may do the physical work but I always acknowledge that it is God who does all the healing. Client after client, Godโ€™s healing touch has been at work.

Remember - A doctor's diagnosis isn't always the last word... We serve a powerful God who performs miraculous healings.

๐ŸŒฟ Sore, Achy, and Stiff? Have You Tried an Epsom Salt Soak? ๐ŸŒฟ

When muscles feel tight, achy, or overworked, many people reach for a warm Epsom salt bathโ€”and for good reason.

Epsom salt contains magnesium sulfate, which may help relax muscles, ease soreness, reduce stress, and promote a sense of overall relaxation. Combined with warm water, an Epsom salt soak can improve circulation and provide temporary relief from everyday aches and pains.

Many people find Epsom salt baths helpful for:
โœ”๏ธ Muscle soreness after exercise
โœ”๏ธ General stiffness and tension
โœ”๏ธ Stress-related tightness
โœ”๏ธ Minor aches and discomfort
โœ”๏ธ Promoting relaxation before bedtime

But what happens when the relief only lasts a few hoursโ€”or doesn't help at all?

๐Ÿ‘‰ In many cases, the underlying problem isn't simply muscle soreness. Tight fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, nerve, and organ) can become restricted due to injury, repetitive strain, stress, surgery, inflammation, or poor posture. These restrictions create abnormal pressure patterns throughout the body that a bath alone cannot fully address.

๐ŸŽฏ That's where Myofascial Release can help.

Myofascial Release uses gentle, sustained pressure to soften and lengthen fascial restrictions, helping to:

โœ… Reduce chronic pain
โœ… Improve mobility and flexibility
โœ… Decrease muscular tension
โœ… Improve posture and movement patterns
โœ… Promote relaxation of the nervous system
โœ… Address the source of many long-standing pain conditions

Think of an Epsom salt bath as a wonderful way to relax the bodyโ€”but if the tension keeps returning, it may be time to address the underlying fascial restrictions contributing to the problem.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Client Quote:
"I soaked in Epsom salts almost every night after work because my hips and lower back were constantly tight. The baths felt good, but the pain always came back. After several treatments with Kevin, I finally experienced lasting relief and no longer felt like I needed to soak every evening."

๐ŸŒฟ Could Tight Adductor Muscles Be Contributing To Your Pain? ๐ŸŒฟ

Most people have never heard of their adductor muscles until they begin experiencing groin, hip, pelvic, knee, or even low back pain.

The adductors are a group of muscles located along the inside of the thigh. Their primary job is to pull the legs toward the midline of the body. These muscles also play an important role in walking, balance, pelvic stability, athletic performance, and maintaining proper alignment of the hips and knees.

๐Ÿ’ก The adductor muscle group includes:
โœ”๏ธ Adductor Longus
โœ”๏ธ Adductor Brevis
โœ”๏ธ Adductor Magnus
โœ”๏ธ Gracilis
โœ”๏ธ Pectineus

When these muscles become tight, shortened, or restricted within the fascia surrounding them, they can create a surprising number of problems throughout the body.

Common symptoms of tight adductors may include:
๐Ÿ”น Groin pain or tightness
๐Ÿ”น Hip pain and restricted mobility
๐Ÿ”น Pelvic floor tension
๐Ÿ”น Pain during walking, running, or exercise
๐Ÿ”น Knee pain caused by altered leg mechanics
๐Ÿ”น Difficulty spreading the legs apart
๐Ÿ”น Low back discomfort
๐Ÿ”น Poor posture and pelvic imbalance
๐Ÿ”น Increased risk of muscle strains and sports injuries

Many people spend years stretching these muscles with only temporary relief because the underlying fascial restrictions remain unchanged.

Myofascial Release (MFR) works differently.

Using gentle, sustained pressure, Myofascial Release helps soften and lengthen restrictions within both the muscles and the surrounding fascia. As tension decreases, many clients experience:

โœ… Improved hip mobility
โœ… Reduced groin and pelvic pain
โœ… Better posture and balance
โœ… Less stress on the knees and low back
โœ… Improved athletic performance
โœ… Greater overall comfort with movement

Because the adductors connect closely with the pelvis, hips, pelvic floor, and lower extremities, restoring flexibility and balance in these tissues can have a profound effect on how the entire body functions.

If you've been struggling with groin tightness, hip pain, pelvic discomfort, or unexplained knee and low back symptoms, your adductor muscles may be playing a larger role than you realize.
