At First Capital EMS, we are incredibly grateful to have received numerous thank you cards from members of the recovery community as part of a local outreach effort to first responders through Life Changing Pathways. EMS crews are often invited into people’s lives during their darkest and most difficult moments, and more often than not, we never get to know what happened after the call ends.

Reading these messages was a powerful reminder that compassion, kindness, and simply taking a moment to talk to someone can make a lifelong impact.

Some of the messages shared with our crews included:

“EMS is the reason I’m alive today. Thank you!”

“You’re awesome! Thank you for being there to save my life!”

“You came to our house on one of the worst days of my life. My wife died from an overdose. You sat with me and told me to go get help so my son didn’t lose both his parents. I just celebrated 8 years clean and I’m married again to a good woman. Thank you.”

“We thank you for saving lives every single day like you guys saved my life.”

To those who shared their stories with us: thank you. Your words mean more than you know, and they serve as a reminder to our providers that the work they do matters — even when they may never see the outcome.

Recovery is possible, and asking for help is a sign of strength. If you or someone you love is struggling with substance use, mental health, or addiction, please know that support is available and there are people who care. One difficult moment does not define your future.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As many gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday and remember those who gave everything for our nation.

From all of us at First Capital EMS, we extend our deepest gratitude to our fallen heroes, their families, and all who have served.

Please celebrate safely this holiday weekend:
🇺🇸 Don’t drink and drive
🇺🇸 Wear your seatbelt
🇺🇸 Stay hydrated and check on loved ones
🇺🇸 Call 911 for emergencies

We remember. We honor. We thank you.

🚑 We’re excited to announce the newest addition to the First Capital EMS fleet!

This remounted LifeLine unit became available at just the right time — and we moved quickly to bring it home before someone else did.

Some highlights of this new unit include:

✅ 2025 Ford F-450 4x4 chassis
✅ LiquidSpring suspension on all four corners for improved ride quality and patient comfort
✅ Whelen emergency lighting package throughout
✅ Onboard medical air system
✅ Stryker Power-LOAD and Power-PRO stretcher system

Once licensed by the Emergency Health Services Federation, this unit will officially go into service as the primary response ambulance for Station 5-5 (Yoe).

We’d like to thank Pfund Superior Sales for being an outstanding partner and helping us secure this unit quickly, as well as TheFireStore graphics division for making sure the finished product looks sharp and professional.

Most importantly, thank you to our staff and the communities we serve for your continued support. Investments like this are only possible because of that support, and they help ensure we can continue providing high-quality emergency medical care when it’s needed most.

We’re looking forward to getting this unit on the road and serving the community! 🚑

🚑 As EMS Week 2026 comes to a close, we wanted to show our communities just a small glimpse of the work our crews put in every day to be the best they can be.

This week, First Capital EMS recognized:

❤️ 12 Paramedics, 7 Advanced EMTs, and 6 EMTs involved in a total of 10 clinical saves in 2025.

What is a clinical save? It means a patient suffering an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest was successfully resuscitated, survived to hospital discharge, and returned home neurologically intact. Survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest remain less than 1 in 10 nationwide — and our providers helped achieve 10 of these outcomes in a single year.

👶 We also recognized 2 Paramedics, 1 Advanced EMT, and 3 EMTs involved in two prehospital deliveries. On both occasions, crews safely delivered healthy baby boys before arrival at the hospital. Thankfully, both mothers and babies had positive outcomes and families now have incredible stories to tell.

These recognitions represent skill, teamwork, continuing education, calm under pressure, and compassion — but most importantly, they represent lives changed forever.

We are incredibly proud of our crews and grateful for the dedication they bring to every shift. EMS Week may only last 7 days, but emergency medical care continues 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Please join us in thanking the EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, dispatchers, and all public safety partners who work together to improve outcomes in our community.

💙 Congratulations to all of our recognized providers — and thank you for all you do.

🎉 As EMS Week 2026 begins to wind down, we want to take a moment to recognize several amazing local organizations that helped us celebrate our First Capital EMS staff.

This year, we partnered with local businesses and entertainment organizations to raffle off some incredible prizes for our crews as a small way to thank them for the work they do every day. We are extremely grateful to everyone who donated, especially those who stepped up on short notice to help make this happen.

Please join us in thanking:

⚾ York Revolution
⚾ Lancaster Stormers
🏁 BAPS Motor Speedway
🍔 South County Brewing Company
🌭 Gift Horse Brewing Company

Community support means a great deal to EMS providers, and we encourage everyone to support the businesses and organizations that support First Responders.

Thank you for helping us recognize the people behind the ambulance — the EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, and support staff who serve our communities 24/7, 365 days a year.

💙 We appreciate your partnership and your support of EMS.

Welcome to EMS Week 2026! This year's theme is "Improving Outcomes, Together", but what does that mean? The theme recognizes something EMS professionals see every day: better patient outcomes never happen because of one person alone. Teamwork, communication, training, and dedication all contribute to giving patients the best possible chance during emergencies.

At First Capital EMS, “Improving Outcomes, Together” also means supporting one another as coworkers, continuing education, strengthening partnerships in our community, and striving to provide compassionate, high-quality care with every call.

This EMS Week, we celebrate the people behind the response and thank all those who work together to make a difference when seconds matter most.

On this International Firefighters' Day, we wanted to take a moment and thank our mutual aid partners! The men and women of these departments serve with pride and dignity, and we are honored to work alongside them!

If you see anyone from the West Manchester Fire Department, York Township Fire Department, Reliance of West York, SAFER, or YAUFR today, please give them a quick "Thank You"!

Yesterday, our International departed the station for the final time. Although it did not see the front line service we had anticipated due to a persistent mechanical issue, we sincerely wish the next owner the best of luck whenever it receives its new chassis after its remount!

With that... Out with the old, in with the new. This would be the 2nd hint at what is coming soon to FCEMS 👀 🚑

To be part of an event like this is something we take very seriously. This Prom Promise event is about more than a demonstration, it’s about delivering a message that we hope never has to become a reality for the students watching.

While the focus of the day was on showing the very real and devastating impact impaired driving can have on lives, the York Suburban High School EMT students added another meaningful layer to the experience. They did an outstanding job stepping into a high-pressure, emotionally charged scenario, getting a firsthand look at what it’s like when seconds matter and all eyes are on you.

For the students observing, this was a powerful reminder that one decision can change everything. For the EMT students, it was a chance to feel the weight of this profession in a way that can’t be taught in a classroom.

As always, teamwork was on full display. Working alongside our mutual aid partners, we came together to create as realistic and impactful an experience as possible... one that we hope sticks with every student long after the day is over.

If even one person walks away from this event and makes a different choice because of it, then every second was worth it.

We added something a little special to this ambulance…

When taking a closer look at our fleet, we recognized that this particular unit was nearing the end of its front-line service as a patient transport vehicle. But mechanically and structurally, it still has plenty of life left—and we knew we could put it to better use.

Instead of retiring it, we made the decision to repurpose it into something new: a dedicated vehicle for our Community Engagement Team.

This unit will now be out and about across the region, supporting community events, educational programs, standbys, and public outreach initiatives. Having a licensed, fully equipped vehicle dedicated to this mission allows our team to expand their presence, connect with more people, and continue building strong relationships throughout the communities we serve.

You’ll be seeing this ambulance at events, schools, public safety demonstrations, and more—so be sure to stop by, say hello, and check it out!

Interested in having our Community Engagement Team at your event? We’d love to be there.
