Hi folks! I'm not super active on here but the best way to stay in touch and up to date is to sign up for my sometimes weekly, sometimes bi-weekly, sometimes monthly email 😬

This is where I share some (hopefully!) helpful health-related info, some recipes, random nutrition facts, and current offerings.

If you're so inclined, I'd be honored to be invited into your email inbox!

My upcoming nutrition/sugar detox class The Restart® Program starts next Monday and I still have room for a few more!

I'm a bit biased (obvi 🤷‍♀️) but there are several things I love about Restart:

1) you are actually learning some of HOW your body is supposed to work and HOW things tend to go wrong and HOW food effects this process. Led by yours truly, a nutritional therapy practitioner.

2) you experience what it FEELS like to remove sugar and foods that quickly turn to sugar. It may seem daunting at first but you'll be amazed at how much better you feel.

3) The way people feel afterwards and the feedback they give!
"This class was life-changing!"
"Take this class, you won't regret it"
"This is the first program that has helped my autoimmune disease!"
"It didn't even feel like a diet"
"I'm amazed at how good no-sugar, healthy recipes are!"
"My back pain is gone and it's only day 3!"
"My joints are no longer stiff and sore"
"I haven't slept this well in YEARS"
If you're the type of person who likes to know the WHY behind the WHAT and you want to feel healthier and more capable this year then I would love to be a part of that process for you and have you in my next Restart sugar detox class.
The program is 5 weeks (one class per week), and will be held virtually on Zoom. I will be holding more classes this year but this will be the last one with 2020 pricing!
There are some more details on my website and you can sign up there but please message me for more info if you have questions or want to chat!

Let me preface this post with this: I'm not implying that you SHOULD be trying to lose weight. Frankly, I'm tired of all the messaging out there telling you (especially if you're a woman) that you NEED to be losing weight. But chances are you or someone you know is or has been trying to lose weight. And if that's the case, I want to present some reasons why the typical advice is a bunch of, well, you know what.

If there is excess weight on your body that is potentially harming your health, that is just a symptom (like any other symptom someone might struggle with) that things are out of balance in your body.

The best way to improve that symptom of extra weight is to build up a healthy and capable body. It is NOT to punish yourself with diets and exercise that you hate.

Come join me THIS Thursday, 6/18 at White Rose Family Chiropractic while I unpack some of the reasons that your body might be out of balance and offer some tips to begin approaching your health in a more foundational, (w)holistic way.

Join me on Thursday at 12pm for a Zoom chat about Nutritional Therapy and weight loss.

When people hear I am a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I am often asked what that is and how it's different from a dietitian or other nutrition professional.

As an NTP I am trained to help my clients use a holistic approach to their health and the various symptoms that keep them from feeling their best.

Excess weight is a symptom that the body is out of balance in some way. I'm not about this or that diet. I am focused on what your particular needs are - helping you determine those needs and then implement the changes to reach your goals.

I'll explain how I use nutritional therapy to do this and how it might benefit you! Register here! https://mailchi.mp/c26e147c5a87/weightloss?mc_cid=39f82e262f&mc_eid=[UNIQID]

Today felt like a good day for a pretty salad. This one has roasted beets, cara cara oranges, avocado, goat cheese, pumpkin seeds, and some zesty brightness from fresh mint and cilantro! Finished off with a maple balsamic dressing. I often forget to add fresh herbs to salads but am quite pleased when I remember 😊.
Have you been making any springtime salads??

Does the stress of these current times have you falling into eating habits that you don't feel good about? I know I've always tended toward stress-eating so I've definitely been more aware of the choices I make and how I feel physically and mentally/emotionally about them. I think it's important to go easy on yourself during this time but also remember that your body still needs whole food nutrition to function.

Here's a little something I wrote up about showing yourself grace during this time but also still showing yourself love by caring for your body (which also affects your mind, emotions, and everything else!)

Show yourself some grace Apr 14, 2020 | Uncategorized | 0 comments If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably run the gamut of emotions during this last month or so. Depending on the day, or even hour, I may feel fine and content, or annoyed, sad, or frustrated. How about you? I was just emaili...

Time for a gut check!

Did you know that 70-80% of your immune system is located in your gut? Or that many of the neurotransmitters that play a key role in your mood are produced IN your gut? Or that you can develop holes in the lining of your small intestine that allow partially digested food, pathogens, and toxins into your bloodstream?

There are many ways our delicate (but also amazing and robust) digestive systems can be stressed and burden with our modern lives.

Join me for a free chat with some practical tips you can use to help improve the health of your gut. This is always important but right now we especially need to be taking good care of ourselves!

I'll be waiting to chat with you next Wednesday April 15 at 12pm. Link to join >>>>> https://zoom.us/j/7172534848

Time to shine the spotlight on Vitamin C! This is an essential nutrient - meaning our bodies cannot produce it like we can with some other nutrients and we must get it from food. It's pretty hard to overdo vitamin c because the body will just excrete what isn't needed.

Should you supplement with C? Maybe! If you're not eating plenty of the foods listed here and you're concerned about your immune health you may want to seek out a quality source of some extra vitamin c.

It's been awhile since I've posted one of these Nutrient Spotlights but I thought now is a great time to focus on ZINC, a mineral that is essential for immune health (among other things)!

As mentioned, animal sources of zinc are the most bio-available, meaning the easiest for your body to actually absorb and use. There is zinc in plant sources but you will not be able to access as much because of the anti-nutrient phytate. You can, however, reduce the amount of phytate in your whole grains, legumes, and nuts/seeds by soaking and/or sprouting them. This makes the vitamins and minerals much more available for use in those plant-based foods
