Working in healthcare my entire career as a nurse and then as a Nurse Practitioner, I have worked in family practice, ER, urgent care, and have worked with every specialty in some capacity.

Now that my patient panel are all firefighters/paramedics/EMS, it still shocks me how that group of people care for each other, support each other and have each others backs.

I wish I could say it’s like that in medicine, but unfortunately it’s not. So, if you are a ff/paramedic/EMS worker…we see you!! We see how you look out for each other and it’s just amazing! You should be so proud of your profession ❤️

🩵💜 As September and National Su***de Prevention Month draw to a close, Worksite Wellness wants to remind everyone to stay connected, reach out when you need support, and make space for others to do the same. Our staff is always available to assist you at every step, whether you just need to talk, find outside support, or establish more comprehensive care.

First responders experience higher rates of su***de compared to the general public, with su***de historically claiming more lives than line-of-duty deaths. In 2025, there were 65 line-of-duty deaths recorded for U.S. firefighters, compared to 87 documented su***des.
