📚✨ Ypsilanti Death Cafe now has a community library!

One of my goals has always been to make conversations about death and dying more accessible in our community. Providing helpful resources free and easy to borrow is one way we can make that happen!

With the help of Sher (Last Chapter Collective) and several generous community members, we’ve created a growing collection of books on death, dying, grief, caregiving, living fully, end-of-life planning, and more - children's books too!

How it works:
📖 Browse at any Ypsilanti Death Cafe gathering.
✍️ Sign out a book.
🏡 Take it home and return it when you’re done.

No due dates, though we ask for returns within about 3 months if possible, and in the condition it was borrowed.

We hope you find something useful here ❤️

As we head into the warmer months, we have a few schedule shifts that will take us out of our normal flow for a bit. We'll be back to our regular schedule (first Wednesday and third Saturday) in August!

I wear many hats, and hosting the Ypsilanti Death Cafe is definitely one of my favorites ❤️

Each gathering is a little different, shaped by the people who show up that day. The conversations move where they need to, and the pauses in between don’t need to be filled. We talk about grief tied to death and dying, disenfranchised grief, end-of-life wishes, caretaking, how we want to live, how we support one another in community, and everything in between.

I say this every meeting (so if you’ve been around, you’ve heard it 🙃), but I’m always in awe of the folks who show up, whether once or regularly, and are willing to be open, honest, and vulnerable with one another. That’s what this group is all about and how we continue to grow together.

If you’re curious about Death Cafe, I encourage you to just come! There’s never any pressure to share. You can participate in whatever way feels right for you and take what you need from the space.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately, the Death Cafe scheduled for January 17th is cancelled.

I’m currently out with the flu and want to make sure we’re keeping everyone safe. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Our next meeting will be on February 4th at 5pm at Bloodroot, I hope to see you all then.
