Falls can be serious — and the consequences can extend far beyond the fall itself.
A fall can lead to injury, hospitalization, loss of independence, fear of movement, and a cascade of declining health.
At Healing Arts Physical Therapy, we use the Solo-Step system to help patients safely work on balance and fall prevention. The system uses a harness, lanyard, and overhead rail so we can challenge a patient’s balance while greatly reducing the risk of an actual fall during training.
In this exercise, we’re working specifically on foot clearance — lifting the foot high enough to safely step over obstacles. When the foot does not clear the ground or an object, it can catch and cause a forward trip or fall.
This is one of the most common concerns I’ve heard from patients over the years:
“I’m afraid I’m going to catch my foot and fall.”
The Solo-Step allows us to practice these real-world challenges in a controlled and safe environment so patients can improve balance, coordination, walking ability, and confidence.
Over the years, I’ve seen this system make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes.
Better balance. Safer movement. More confidence.
