🌲 Happy Yule - Winter Solstice ❄️
Today is Winter Solstice, when we celebrate the shortest day and longest night of the year, and the return of the sun. For many people, this celebration is at least as important as Christmas and New Year, and marks the beginning of a new cycle; the light has returned again.
In the midst of this longest darkest night, deep in the earth, even the seeds begin to stir with hope. In times past and present, people gathered 'round bonfires, lit candles, sang songs of holiness and joy, and danced together to welcome the return of the light and the promise of new life.
While we may not always be able to gather in large circles with friends and family, we can still create our simple ceremonies joining our hearts together, lighting our fires, releasing into the flames what no longer serves us as individuals and as a species, and celebrate together the birth of the sun and the promise of returning light.
We are the light, we are living stars on Earth reflecting our light back into the distant darkness. Our task is to remember to keep that light burning brightly and to let it reflect in who we are and what we do in the world, and when we are able to do this, the possibilities are infinite.
Stars that shine together make for an even more brilliantly bright light. This Solstice, join your energies together with the thousands of others around the world who are lighting their fires, singing their songs into the darkness, dance freely, set your intentions, let go, release all that no longer serves you or humanity, order your seeds, plan your gardens, dream your future, and never fear, the sun is returning again and a new dawn is on its way. ♥️
