💜 Today is National Caregiver Day, a day to recognize the incredible dedication, love, and resilience of those caring for others. If no one has told you today—you are appreciated.
Every month, I lead a free Daughterhood Circle focused on dementia-related topics, and recently, an attendee shared something that truly touched my heart. She told me that the communication strategies I shared last month were life-changing in how she now interacts with her loved one living with dementia. 💬✨
Her words reminded me why I do this work, and on a day dedicated to caregivers, I want to ensure even more care partners have access to this same resource that I shared during the circle. My FREE guide, Tools for Communication and Tackling Challenging Care Situations, is linked below.
The guide includes helpful tips for:
✔️ Understand the connection with executive function decline, normal aging, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and dementia
✔️ Understand sundowning and potential triggers.
✔️ Tackling communication with your person with dementia when things aren't making sense. Tips for responding to questions, such as, “Where is my mom?” or “I need to go home!"
✔️ Understand signs of agitation when your loved one can no longer communicate what is wrong through words - your own detective checklist.
✔️ Information about additional free resources that The Memory Compass provides, along with our courses and service offerings.
If you’re caring for someone with dementia, I hope this guide provides you with clarity, confidence, and practical strategies to make communication easier.
