๐Ÿ† National Recognition for Team USVI!

The Virgin Islands Department of Health is proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our Epidemiology Team at the 2026 Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) Annual Conference.

A special congratulations to Dr. Hannah Cranford, who received the prestigious CSTE Rising Leader Award, a highly competitive national honor recognizing emerging leaders in the field of epidemiology and public health.

Our team also shared its expertise through seven oral presentations, showcasing innovative work in disease surveillance, data modernization, outbreak investigations, and public health informatics. Their presentations highlighted the important work being done right here in the U.S. Virgin Islands to strengthen public health systems and protect our communities.

"We are incredibly proud of Dr. Cranford and grateful for the leadership, professionalism, and passion she brings to public health every day." โ€” Commissioner Justa Encarnacion

๐Ÿ’ง MEK TIME FOR WATER. ๐Ÿ’ง
As we get older, our bodies may not signal thirst as strongly as they once did. That means it's important to drink water throughout the dayโ€”even when you don't feel thirsty.

Staying hydrated can help support healthy body function, maintain energy levels, and reduce the risk of dehydration, especially during the warmer summer months.

A simple glass of water can make a big difference.

Whether you're relaxing at home, spending time with family, or enjoying the beautiful Virgin Islands weather, remember:

๐Ÿ’™ Don't wait until you're thirsty.
๐Ÿ’™ Drink water throughout the day.
๐Ÿ’™ Make hydration part of your daily routine.

**Stay cool. Stay healthy. Stay hydrated.**

๐Ÿ’ง MEK TIME FOR WATER. ๐Ÿ’ง

The VI Department of Health is reminding you that the summer heat is here, and higher temperatures can increase your risk of dehydration โ€” especially when you're working, exercising, or spending time outdoors.

This week, we're kicking off our "Mek Time for Water" campaign with a simple reminder: The Water Cooler Has One Job. Drink Water.

Staying hydrated helps your body regulate temperature, maintain energy, and support overall health. So,

โœ… Keep a water bottle nearby.
โœ… Drink water throughout the day.
โœ… Don't wait until you're thirsty.

Stay cool. Stay healthy. Stay hydrated.
