Điều khiến những thành tích ấy trở nên đặc biệt không chỉ nằm ở số lượng giải thưởng, mà còn ở độ khó chuyên môn phía sau từng tác phẩm. Trước khi trở thành tattoo artist đạt nhiều giải thưởng quốc tế, Anh Thắng vốn đã là một họa sĩ chuyên vẽ chân dung tả thực.
