Saline là một thuật ngữ chung dùng để chỉ hỗn hợp muối và nước. Nhưng thuật ngữ này không phản ánh có bao nhiêu hạt muối trong một thể tích nước nhất định, tức là độ mạnh của muối. Sức mạnh của nước muối được gọi là trương lực. Nước muối có thể ưu trương, đẳng trương hoặc nhược trương. Với Nasopure, 1 gói muối trong chai 8oz là đẳng trương. 2 gói muối trong một chai 8oz là ưu trương. Dung dịch đẳng trương (nhẹ hơn) có nghĩa là nồng độ muối tương tự như cơ thể người. Saline is a generic term referring to a mixture of salt and water. But this term does not reflect how many salt particles are in a given volume of water, i.e., the strength of the saline. The strength of saline is referred to as tonicity. Saline can be hypertonic, isotonic or hypotonic. With Nasopure, 1 salt packet in an 8 oz bottle is Isotonic. 2 salt packets in an 8 oz bottle is Hypertonic. Isotonic (milder) solution means the salt concentration is similar to the human body. Hypertonic means saltier than the body and is the most effective solution. Since water follows salt, if you create a hypertonic solution, the water from your nasal membranes will be drawn out, and it will reduce the swelling! Nasopure salt packets are highly buffered with sodium bicarbonate, which raises the pH, augments healing of damaged tissues, and, most importantly - takes away the burning in the nose!
