🏥💼 Empowering our community with life-saving pediatric emergency response skills.

Medical emergencies involving infants and young children require specialized knowledge due to their unique anatomy and physiology. Today, Family Medical Practice held a comprehensive training course covering CPR, AED, and Common Emergencies in Infants & Children

The session was led by Mr. Tarek Moussa, who guided participants through practical, hands-on simulations aligned with international pediatric emergency guidelines. Attendees learned critical skills ranging from resuscitation techniques to managing acute environmental emergencies like venomous stings and bites.

Congratulations to today's graduates on earning their certifications! Providing accessible, high-standard emergency education remains a core pillar of our mission to support public health and safety across Vietnam.

🩸 Where is your blood actually being tested?

Many people assume their blood tests are processed within the clinic they visit. In reality, many healthcare providers outsource laboratory testing to external facilities.

At Family Medical Practice, all laboratory testing is conducted within our own in-house laboratories — allowing for enhanced quality oversight, greater collaboration between medical and laboratory teams, and faster turnaround times for patients.
From the moment your sample is collected, it remains within the FMP network under carefully controlled handling and international-standard protocols.

Because when it comes to your health, confidence in accuracy, accountability, and continuity of care matters.

☀️🧴Why is my skin breaking out lately?

Is it just us, or has the heat in Vietnam been on another level? While we’re all trying to stay cool, our skin is working overtime and for many, that means sudden breakouts and heat rashes.

🧪 The Science of Summer Acne: When temperatures soar, our skin naturally produces more oil (sebum) and sweat. This mixture, combined with daily environmental pollutants and dead skin cells, creates the perfect "clogged pore" cocktail.

In extreme humidity, heavy moisturizers can trap heat and sweat against your skin. We recommend switching to a lightweight, water-based gel cleanser and a non-comedogenic moisturizer to let your pores breathe while staying hydrated.

☀️ 3 Tips to Beat the Heat Breakout:
• Double Cleanse: Use a gentle gel or foaming cleanser after a long day to completely remove sweat and city grime.
• Cool Down: After exercising or spending time outdoors, rinse your face with cool water immediately to prevent sweat from sitting on your skin.
• Antioxidant Defense: Consider adding a Vitamin C serum to help your skin fight off the oxidative stress caused by intense heat.

📍 Don't let the heat compromise your skin health. Schedule a consultation with our skincare experts at FMP Thao Dien today:

Global Ebola Update: What you need to know, with Dr. Serge 🩺🗺️

You may have seen the recent international headlines regarding a new Ebola emergency declared by the WHO in Africa. To cut through the noise, our Pediatrician and specialist in Infectious Diseases, Dr. Serge Gradstein, breaks down the facts and what it means for families in Vietnam:

🔬 The Strain Matters: This current outbreak in the DRC and Uganda involves the Bundibugyo strain which is different enough from the more common Zaire strain ( By 35% of its genome) to escape the current vaccines developed against Ebola. The “good news” are that this strain is less virulent than the other strains involved in the previous outbreaks.

The contagiousness is the same compared to that observed in the previous outbreaks .

🌳 Why Outbreaks Return: Ebola doesn't just "appear." It is a complex zoonotic challenge. Outbreaks recur due to periodic wildlife spillovers (often linked to bats or forest disruption), hunting, and delayed infection control in remote areas.

🇻🇳 The Situation in Vietnam: There are zero reported cases in Vietnam. Our public health system is operating on an alert, precautionary stance. The Ministry of Health has already tightened thermal scanning and surveillance at all international borders and ports of entry.

Dr. Serge’s Advice for Families:
"There is absolutely no cause for panic locally. The risk to the general public in Vietnam remains exceptionally low. If you or your family members are returning from the affected regions in East/Central Africa, the current guideline is simply to self-monitor your health for 21 days and consult a physician immediately if any symptoms arise." — Dr. Serge Gradstein

At Family Medical Practice, our clinical teams remain continuously updated on global health protocols to keep your family safe. We are closely monitoring the situation as it evolves and will immediately share any critical public health updates or new developments regarding this outbreak right here on our page.

🌡️Do you feel a little "puffy" lately? It might be Heat Edema

If your shoes feel tighter or your rings are harder to take off at the end of a long, hot day in Vietnam, you aren’t alone. What you’re experiencing is likely Heat Edema.
Why does it happen?

When temperatures soar, your blood vessels naturally dilate (expand) to help your body cool down. This process can cause fluid to pool in your extremities; most commonly your feet, ankles, and hands, leading to that heavy, swollen sensation.

The Hydration Paradox: It might feel like you should drink less water to stop the swelling, but the opposite is true!

Expert Advice from the FMP Clinical Team:
"When you become dehydrated in this heat, your body triggers a 'survival response' and holds on to every drop of fluid it can. Drinking plenty of water actually helps your kidneys flush out the excess sodium that often causes retention. If the swelling is accompanied by pain or redness, it is important to consult a professional." — Dr. Alfredo (Internal Medicine)

3 Simple Ways to Reduce the Swelling:
• Keep it Moving: Avoid sitting or standing in one spot for too long. A short walk helps your muscles pump fluid back toward your heart.
• The Elevation Trick: After a long day, lie down and elevate your feet above heart level for 15–20 minutes to encourage drainage.
• Watch the Salt: Be mindful of high-sodium snacks or "street food" during heatwaves, as salt encourages your body to store more water.

Is the heat affecting you this week? 🥵 Drop a "💧" in the comments if you’re focusing on your hydration today!
