I received a text from a client today that simply said:

💩 “The bottom might be falling out of your world right now Maz, but the world just fell out of my bottom. Thank you so much.”

Honestly… I HOWLED with laughter 😂😂😂

A few years ago this same client came to see me for chiropractic and was really struggling with constipation.

A few days later I received another memorable message:

“Maz, you’re better than any laxative.”

Again… absolutely cried laughing 🤣

Now before anyone jumps on me, legally I can’t tell you chiropractic “treats” constipation.

What I CAN tell you is that when you improve nervous system function, reduce stress and work with the body rather than against it, sometimes interesting things start happening… 👀💩

There was even a week where I seemed to have multiple people messaging me about bowel movements and I briefly wondered if I was accidentally becoming “The Poo Doctor.”

Not quite the professional title I spent years studying for 😅

But joking aside…

Constipation is NOT normal.

Having a bowel movement every 3-4 days is not normal.

Living on laxatives is not normal.

Bloating, discomfort, straining, feeling like you’re carrying a brick around in your abdomen… not normal.

Your bowels are one of your body’s major detoxification pathways.

If things aren’t moving, neither is a lot of the rubbish your body is trying to get rid of.

So if you’re struggling, please don’t just accept it as normal.

There are usually clues as to WHY it’s happening.

And yes… apparently I do enjoy talking about poo more than any normal person should 😂

Social media only shows you a fraction of the view.

A snapshot.
A highlight reel.
A carefully selected moment in time.

What it rarely shows is the stuff happening behind the scenes.

The grief.
The fear.
The guilt.
The shame.
The uncertainty.
The moments where you genuinely don’t know which way is up.

If I’m honest, that’s where I’ve been lately.

My dad is unwell and I don’t know what the future looks like there.

My own health journey has dredged up more emotional stuff than I could have imagined.

My nervous system has been so dysregulated that some days regulating myself feels like a full-time job.

I have moments where health anxiety gets the better of me.

Moments where I spiral because my right hand still doesn’t feel right and I wonder what comes next.

Moments where I wrestle with shame that I “should” have spotted things sooner.

But f**k the “shoulds”

I’m working really hard on replacing judgement with compassion.

I feel guilt that I’m not there for my clients or team as much as I’d like to be.

I miss them.
I worry about them.
I think about them often.

But I also know that for probably the first time in my life, I have to put myself first and allow myself to fully heal before I return.

And that’s uncomfortable.

Those bloody car air fresheners should honestly be illegal 🤢😂

I once got into an Uber between Gatwick and Heathrow and the guy had about FIVE synthetic fragrance air fresheners hanging in the car.

I could smell it before I even opened the door.

By the end of the journey I:
❌ had a headache
❌ felt nauseous
❌ had the windows down on the motorway
❌ and basically had my head hanging out the window like a Labrador 🐶

Honestly… synthetic fragrance is sooooo TOXIC.

And if your body reacts strongly to it, that is NOT you being dramatic. That is your body saying:
“🚨 absolutely not 🚨”

People massively underestimate how much these chemicals impact:
⚡️ hormones
⚡️ migraines
⚡️ asthma
⚡️ nervous system regulation
⚡️ skin
⚡️ inflammation
⚡️ detox pathways

If it says:
👉 “fragrance”
👉 “parfum”
👉 “air freshener”

…exercise discernment and steer clear

And honestly? The irony is wild.

Governments will tell us fresh air is dangerous ( ) one minute… while allowing synthetic chemical soup to be pumped into cars, homes and offices daily 🤪

Your body was designed for:
🌿 fresh air
🌿 nature
🌿 clean environments

NOT fake vanilla cupcake diesel toilet spray chemicals

Functional medicine is NOT a money-making machine. And honestly? Most people massively misunderstand what they’re actually paying for.

Yes, the upfront fees can look expensive.

But the reality is this work is unbelievably time heavy.

You are paying for:
👉 pattern recognition
👉 years of training + clinical experience
👉 assimilating huge amounts of complex data
👉 putting YOUR story, labs, symptoms and timeline together into one coherent picture

That cannot be replaced by AI.

AI is a brilliant tool. I use it myself. But it cannot replace human intuition, clinical experience or the ability to understand what is actually RELEVANT in someone’s life story.

I’ve got clients currently whose health clues started at 3 years old. THREE.

An AI report won’t understand:
⚡️ the trauma timeline
⚡️ the infections
⚡️ the stress patterns
⚡️ the personality
⚡️ the environmental load
⚡️ the emotional component

That’s the work.

And honestly? If you are not prepared to DO the work, don’t even bother booking the appointment.

Because this isn’t:
❌ “take one magic supplement and fix me.”

This is:
✔️ commitment
✔️ lifestyle changes
✔️ nervous system work
✔️ diet changes
✔️ consistency
✔️ sometimes labs
✔️ often supplements/nutraceuticals initially

And yes, supplements cost money.

But many people coming to me are:
👉 chronically inflamed
👉 chronically stressed
👉 mineral deficient
👉 toxic
👉 burnt out

Five portions of fruit and veg alone is often NOT enough to reverse years of dysfunction.

I will ALWAYS try:
✨ food first
✨ foundations first
✨ whole-food support where possible

…but we also have to use the tools available to us in today’s world.

The GOOD news?

There is loads people can do on the foundations before diving into expensive testing and that’s exactly why I’m creating mini courses and foundational programmes to help people get started properly 🤍

Because healing is a process. A roadmap. Not a quick fix.

If you’re still spraying synthetic perfume daily, you’re basically microdosing petrochemicals straight onto your skin, lungs, lymphatics and hormones every single day.

Most perfumes contain dozens to hundreds of undisclosed chemicals hidden under one word:
“FRAGRANCE.”

Your skin absorbs what you put on it.
Your lungs absorb what you breathe in.
Your hormones pay attention.

One synthetic perfume can contain 100–300+ chemicals, many never disclosed on the label because “fragrance” is protected as a trade secret 🤫🙈🙄

Phthalates.
Solvents.
Synthetic musks.
Hormone disruptors.

See the word “fragrance” think toxic 💩 storm

Eczema and psoriasis are NOT just skin issues… they are often signs of deeper gut dysfunction ⚡️

Your skin is your biggest organ and one of your major protective barriers just like the lining of your gut.

When these barriers become compromised (“leaky”), things that shouldn’t get into the bloodstream can start crossing over… triggering inflammation throughout the body.

And depending on YOUR genetics, stress levels, toxic load and lifestyle factors, that inflammation may show up as:
👉 eczema
👉 psoriasis
👉 IBS
👉 joint pain
👉 fatigue
👉 autoimmune symptoms

Same process. Different expression.

This is where holistic health thinks differently.

Mainstream medicine will often suppress the skin symptoms with creams or steroids which can absolutely help symptomatically but that is often just turning the warning light off 🚨

The real question is:
WHY is the inflammation there in the first place?

Gut health matters. MASSIVELY.

But it’s rarely as simple as:
“just take a probiotic.”

What if chronic stress is driving the issue?
What if low stomach acid has allowed infections or parasites in?
What if the nervous system is stuck in fight or flight?

This is why healing has to be approached from a WHOLE BODY perspective:
✨ physical
✨ chemical
✨ mental
✨ emotional
✨ environmental

Everything is connected.

And yes parasites are very commonly involved in psoriasis patterns in my clinical experience… but this stuff should NEVER be approached aggressively or without proper support.

Picked up the phone to my lovely friend Natalie this morning halfway through a coffee e***a ☕️💩😂

Now THAT is authentic connection.

Not many people you can casually say:
“Sorry babe, I’m mid-e***a…”

…and they reply:
“Carry on, I don’t mind” 😅

We proceeded to have the most brilliant conversation ranging from medicine, to spirituality, to life, to absolute randomness while I muted myself periodically to… deal with business 💀

And honestly it just made me reflect on how important it is to find your people.

The people you don’t have to edit yourself around.
The people you can be fully weird, fully honest, fully human with.

That’s what real healing spaces should feel like too.

No shame.
No embarrassment.
No filtering.

Because if you can’t talk about poo with someone helping you heal your gut… we’ve got work to do 😂

Authenticity is medicine 🤍

Okay… welcome to the 2nd of my “why chiropractic is SO much more than back pain” series 🧠⚡️

This time we’re talking about the THORACIC SPINE (your upper/mid back) and why this area is SO important for nervous system regulation.

The thoracic spine houses nerves that communicate with many of your major organs:
❤️ heart
🫁 lungs
🍽️ stomach
🧠 digestive system
🫘 liver + gallbladder
🩸 spleen
🚽 bowels
🩺 kidneys
♀️ reproductive organs

…but one of the BIGGEST things this area influences is your SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM.

AKA:
👉 fight or flight.

This area sits roughly between the shoulder blades.

So if you:
💻 sit at a desk all day
📱 hunch over your phone
🤱 breastfeed
🏋️ overtrain upper body
😮‍💨 carry stress in your shoulders

…and this area becomes tight, stiff and overloaded, your nervous system can become STUCK in stress mode.

Which means:
⬆️ heart rate
⬆️ breathing rate
⬇️ digestion
⬇️ healing
⬇️ recovery

Because your body thinks it’s running from a sabre-toothed tiger 😅

The opposite side of the nervous system is the PARASYMPATHETIC nervous system (“rest and digest”), linked heavily to the vagus nerve — which I mentioned in my last video.

This is why chiropractic, bodywork, breathwork and nervous system regulation practices can have such a profound effect on the WHOLE body.

It’s not “just muscles.”
It’s neurology ⚡️

And if your upper back constantly feels tight, tense or crunchy… your body might be trying to tell you something.

👀 Keep an eye out for PART 2 of this reel where I explain how this can be linked to acid reflux… and why reflux is NOT always caused by “too much stomach acid.”

DrMC x

24/05/2026

PART 2… because apparently I’m incapable of making short videos 😅🧠⚡️

Let’s talk about WHY holistic (whole-body) healthcare matters.

One of the biggest issues with mainstream medicine is that it often treats the symptom… not the whole person.

Take as a simple example.

If your upper back and thoracic spine are super tight, particularly during periods of stress, grief, overwhelm, divorce, burnout etc, this can impact the nerves communicating with the stomach and digestive system.

So you might develop:
🔥 reflux
🔥 indigestion
🔥 bloating
🔥 burning

You go to the GP and understandably they’ll often prescribe:
👉 Omeprazole
👉 Pantoprazole
👉 Gaviscon
👉 acid blockers

BUT…

What if the problem was never “too much stomach acid” in the first place?

Because here’s the really interesting bit:

⚠️ Low stomach acid symptoms can feel IDENTICAL to high stomach acid symptoms.

And chronic stress + fight or flight often LOWER stomach acid production.

So now…
👉 digestion worsens
👉 food sits heavier
👉 nutrient absorption drops
👉 protective stomach acid decreases

…and suddenly the body becomes more vulnerable to things like:
🦠 parasites
🦠 H. pylori
🦠 bacterial overgrowth

Because stomach acid is one of the body’s FIRST lines of defence.

This is why functional medicine practitioners (and vitalistic chiropractors) think differently.

We don’t just look at:
“what symptom do you have?”

We look at:
👉 your stress levels
👉 your nervous system
👉 your posture
👉 your lifestyle
👉 your emotional load
👉 your diet
👉 your whole terrain

Because symptoms are CLUES.

And unless they’re put into the bigger picture, things get missed.

Any advice gratefully received from anyone who’s good with . As you may know if you follow me for a little while I love the sun, love being outside and that is not going to stop, but unfortunately I’m notoriously crap at remembering to put factor 50 on my face and it is now telling me about it 🙈

I’d super appreciate any advice on products that actually work options only please 😂 or what else I can do other than remember to wear sunscreen on my face!

is this something you can help with?

Thanks in advance for any advice 😘 xx.
