Kamu Sauna operations are now 100% carbon offset 🌿

Over the past few months, we completed carbon offsetting for our first three years of operations in partnership with Great Bear Carbon - the first Indigenous-owned carbon offset project in Canada.

This included calculating emissions connected to transportation, shipping, mobile sauna operations, travel, logistics, construction activities, consulting, events, and research work.

We know carbon offsetting is not a perfect solution. But we do believe accountability matters, especially for businesses + organizations connected to forests, water, tourism, and community wellbeing.

Living and working in BC, the realities of climate change no longer feel distant. Juho worked as a wildland firefighter for over a decade, and through that experience we have seen firsthand how interconnected ecological health and community resilience truly are.

This felt like one meaningful step toward aligning our operations more closely with the values we hope to embody through our work.

Still learning.
Still evolving.
Still trying to ask better questions.

See you soon at World Sauna Forum in Jyväskylä, Finland!

For us, “sauna is not a trend” is less of a slogan and more of an ongoing responsibility.

To us, that means staying connected globally in support of sauna-bathing as a community practice, not just a commercial product or fleeting wellness moment. It also means continuing to give back to the global sauna community that has taught us so much.

We’re proud members of and deeply believe in their mission - one that welcomes and supports all sauna and sweat-bathing cultures globally.

One of the greatest gifts has been learning alongside people from 30+ countries who are all asking important questions around stewardship, access, culture, sustainable design, ritual, public life, and what meaningful bathing culture can look like in different places around the world.

The future of sauna culture will not be shaped by one country alone. It will be shaped through relationships, exchange, and care across borders. And we feel grateful to be part of those conversations. 🌍♨️

Charlie Duckworth with said it best last year - “Every networking event should have a sauna.”

We’re slowing down for the season - to rest, regroup + spend our time back in Finland with colleagues + loved ones.

In the meantime, saunas builds are still booking for the summer months + the sauna shop is still open - stoves, goods, merch + more. Hoping to stock up even more after our time at World Sauna Forum.

This winter hit different because of x 🇫🇮.

The benches, the ease of set-up, that stove with large rock mass for all the good löyly’s. 🤌🏽

Front country, backcountry, backyards… We brought it everywhere and we’re never going back.
