"Mom, why is my brain like this?" This is how I explained ADHD to my child - and it changed everything. 🏎️

Kids with ADHD have a Ferrari engine (fast, powerful, intense brain) but bicycle brakes (under-developed executive function in the prefrontal cortex).

They think fast, feel everything intensely, have amazing ideas - but the part of their brain that helps them stop, focus, organize, and regulate? It's still developing.

So when they can't sit still, forget things, interrupt, or get intensely upset - it's not that they're not trying. It's that they have a race car brain with bicycle brakes that are still being built.

When the spine is imbalanced, brain-body communication is disrupted. Signals between the powerful engine and the developing brakes get fuzzy.

Chiropractic helps:
-Upper cervical work supports the brainstem (which connects to prefrontal cortex function). -Nervous system regulation helps shift them out of constant "race mode" so they can access their brakes.
-Better brain-body communication makes the signals clearer.

We're not slowing down their race car brain (that would be sad - those brains are INCREDIBLE).
We're supporting their nervous system so their brakes can work better while they're still developing.

This isn't about "curing" ADHD. It's about supporting the nervous system foundation that affects focus, regulation, and executive function.

Your child isn't broken. They're not too much. They're not failing. They have a race car brain - and that's going to be their superpower once they learn to control it.

We see kids with ADHD thrive when their nervous system is supported. Better focus, improved emotional regulation, less impulsivity, more confidence.

If you clench your jaw at night, your pelvic floor is probably tight too.

Did you know that your jaw and pelvic floor have a direct connection to one another?

Your jaw and your pelvic floor are connected through your dura (the membrane running from skull to tailbone), your fascia (connective tissue web), and your nervous system. Tension at one end affects the other end.

When your jaw is tight, it creates tension that travels down to your pelvic floor. When your pelvic floor is tight, it travels UP to your jaw.

What this looks like:
You have TMJ pain, jaw clenching, teeth grinding AND pelvic floor dysfunction - incontinence, pain with s*x, tight hips. You're going to the dentist for your jaw and pelvic floor PT for your pelvis. But nobody's addressing the CONNECTION.
Your dentist gives you a night guard.
Your PT gives you exercises.
But if your spine is creating tension at BOTH ends, neither treatment sticks.

How chiropractic addresses both:
✓ Upper cervical adjustments release neck tension affecting jaw mechanics
✓ Cranial work adjusts skull bones that affect TMJ
✓ Sacral adjustments release pelvic floor tension
✓ Full spine alignment addresses postural compensations
✓ Nervous system regulation shifts you out of stress mode so both areas release

What people tell us?
"I stopped clenching my jaw after sacral adjustments - I didn't know they were connected."
"My pelvic floor PT said my work is finally holding after I started chiropractic."

Your jaw and pelvic floor aren't separate issues - they're two ends of the same tension pattern.

Stop treating them in isolation. It's time to address the entire system.

Why going to the chiropractor once isn't going to fix you. 💚

You come in with years (or decades) of spinal imbalance, chronic compensation patterns, nervous system dysregulation, poor posture habits, and old injuries your body adapted around...and you expect one adjustment to undo all of it.

We get it. You want instant relief. But that's not how true healing works.

Think about how long you've had: Forward head posture from screens, sitting at a desk for years, old sports injuries, poor sleep positions, chronic stress patterns, compensation from pregnancy/birth, wear and tear from repetitive movements. Your body adapted over TIME. It needs TIME to re-adapt.

One adjustment starts the process. It doesn't complete it.
Your first adjustment introduces a new pattern to your nervous system, begins releasing held tension, starts shifting compensation, gives your body a taste of balance. But your body has YEARS of muscle memory, fascial adhesions, and nervous system patterns pulling you back to old imbalance.

One workout doesn't get you fit. One healthy meal doesn't reverse metabolic damage. One therapy session doesn't heal trauma. One adjustment doesn't undo years of imbalance.

What creates lasting change: Consistency + Time = Results. Phase 1: Optimization Care (Months 1-4) Frequent visits to reduce pain, improve function, start shifting patterns. These regular visits work on breaking through stress patterns, retrain the nervous system, create new movement patterns, and create adaptation and resiliency in the nervous system.

Phase 2: Wellness Care (Ongoing) Maintenance visits to keep nervous system regulated, prevent regression, optimize function. This is the overall goal - to keep each individual happy and healthy!

If you're looking for a quick fix, chiropractic isn't it. If you're ready to HEAL - address root causes, retrain nervous system, create lasting change - we're here.

We are about to challenge something you've been told is essential for baby sleep.
Swaddling.
Arms pinned tight.
Legs straight.
"Babies need it to sleep." "It's the only way to prevent the startle reflex."

But here's what they're not telling you: Every time you restrict your baby's movement, you're restricting their neurological development.
Right now, your baby's brain is forming neural connections at a rate that will never happen again.
And what drives that process? Movement, sensory input, touch, and pressure. The feeling of their arms and legs moving through space is good for neurological development.

Every time your baby reaches, grasps, kicks, stretches - neural pathways are forming, brain-body connections are strengthening, and their nervous system is integrating sensory information that literally builds their brain.

Swaddling stops all of that.

Arms pinned means no reaching, no grasping, no self-soothing.
Legs straight means no natural hip movement, no proprioceptive feedback.

And the startle reflex? It's supposed to be there. It's a primitive reflex that should naturally integrate as your baby's nervous system matures. When you restrict it, you're not allowing it the opportunity to integrate.

"But my baby won't sleep without being swaddled."
I hear you.

Babies who "need" swaddling usually have nervous system dysregulation - often from birth.

The tight wrap isn't fixing their sleep problem- it's masking their nervous system dysregulation. When we address that through gentle adjustments - releasing birth trauma, supporting their nervous system - sleep improves naturally, without restricting the movement their developing brain desperately needs.
Imagine your baby sleeping peacefully with arms free- self-soothing and their brain developing optimally because you gave them the gift of free movement.

You don't have to trade development for sleep.
There's another way.

Your “clumsy” kid probably isn’t careless… their nervous system may just be overwhelmed. 🤕

The kid who:
• bumps into everything
• trips over nothing
• falls way more than other kids
• drops things constantly
• struggles with coordination

They’re not “just clumsy.” And trust us… they’re trying SO hard.

What you may actually be seeing is a proprioception issue. 👇🏼

Proprioception is your body’s ability to know where it is in space without looking. When those signals aren’t communicating clearly, kids can struggle with balance, coordination, body awareness, and spatial judgment.

That’s neurological. 🧠

Those signals travel through the nervous system and spine to the brain. If the spine is under stress or out of balance — especially in the upper neck — the brain can have a harder time processing where the body is in space.

And honestly? This is SO common in kids.

Things like:
• birth stress
• learning to walk (hundreds of falls 😅)
• sports impacts
• growth spurts
• screen posture + tech neck

…can all create stress on a child’s nervous system.

At Rise, we look at the nervous system FIRST.

When the nervous system functions better, parents often notice:
✨ better coordination
✨ fewer falls + injuries
✨ improved confidence
✨ better body awareness

If your child is the one who’s “always getting hurt” or “constantly crashing into things,” don’t ignore it.

Their brain may just not be getting clear signals yet. 🧠⚡️

Constipation in kids is SO common… but it’s not “normal.” 💩

If your child is only going every few days, struggling with hard or painful bowel movements, complaining of tummy aches, withholding because it hurts, or having accidents because they’re so backed up… we know how frustrating that can be for the whole family.
And chances are, you’ve already tried it all:
✨ More water
✨ More fiber
✨ Probiotics
✨ Prune juice
✨ Miralax

Maybe it helps for a little while… then everything slows right back down again.
Here’s the part most parents are never told 👇
Digestion is controlled by the nervous system. The nerves in the lower spine and sacrum help control bowel motility, muscle contractions, and the brain-body communication that tells your child when it’s time to go.

When the nervous system is stressed or those lower spinal nerves aren’t communicating well, the gut can slow down too.
Add in things like:
➡️ Birth stress & early falls
➡️ Heavy backpacks & poor posture
➡️ Growth spurts
➡️ Sitting all day at school
➡️ Stress + overstimulated little nervous systems
…and the body can get stuck in “fight-or-flight” mode instead of the rest-and-digest state kids need for healthy digestion.

That’s why at Rise, we look deeper than just symptom management. Gentle, neurologically-focused chiropractic care helps support proper nervous system function so the body can work the way it was designed to. ✨
And yes — nutrition matters too! Hydration, whole foods, movement, magnesium, and probiotics can all be amazing support. But when the nervous system is overwhelmed, the body may still struggle to fully regulate digestion long-term.

If your child’s constipation keeps coming back no matter what you try, it may be time to check the nervous system.

Restless legs aren’t “just annoying.” They’re often a sign your nervous system is stuck in stress mode and the communication between your brain + body isn’t flowing the way it should.

That crawling, twitchy, can’t-sit-still feeling at night?
The constant urge to move your legs the second you finally lay down?
The exhaustion from waking up over and over again trying to get comfortable?

We hear this ALL the time in our office.

Most people are told to just “take magnesium” or “deal with it,” but restless leg syndrome is commonly connected to nervous system dysregulation and irritation in the lower spine.

Your lower lumbar nerves and sacrum help control sensation, muscle function, and communication to the legs. When the spine and nervous system are under stress from things like:
• Sitting all day
• Pregnancy + pelvic shifts
• Old injuries
• Chronic stress
• Poor posture + forward head posture
• Constant fight-or-flight mode
…the brain can start sending faulty “move your legs” signals even when your body is trying to rest.

And here’s the thing:
You cannot heal in a stressed, dysregulated nervous system.

At Rise, we focus on restoring proper nervous system function through neurologically based chiropractic care so your body can finally shift out of stress mode and into healing mode. ✨

Do magnesium, hydration, stretching, and lowering caffeine help? Absolutely.
But those things work SO much better when your nervous system is functioning the way it’s designed to.

If bedtime has become frustrating, exhausting, or anxiety-inducing because your legs won’t settle down… your body may be asking for nervous system support.

If you’re living on Excedrin and avoiding bright lights just to get through the day… we see you. And more importantly—there is another way. 🧠

At Rise, we don’t chase symptoms—we look at the why. Chronic headaches and migraines are often a sign your nervous system is overwhelmed and out of balance… and we see that shift every single day.

You’ve probably already tried it all:
• Pain meds (Excedrin, Tylenol, prescriptions)
• Injections, temporary fixes, quick relief attempts
• Avoiding triggers (but let’s be real… you can’t avoid life)
• Just “pushing through”

And yet… the headaches keep coming back.
The migraines still take you out for hours (or days).
Plans get canceled. Work gets missed. And there’s always that underlying fear of the next one.

✨ Here’s what we often find underneath it all:

Your body isn’t broken—it’s stressed and compensating.

• The top of your neck (C1–C2) plays a huge role in how your brain + body communicate
• Posture (hello, phones + desk life) adds constant pressure to that area
• Tight muscles in your neck/shoulders can refer pain straight into your head
• Your nervous system gets stuck in “go mode” (stress mode), lowering your threshold for migraines
• Hormones + stress + structure all stack on each other

This isn’t random—it’s a pattern.

✨ What we focus on at Rise:
• Gentle, specific adjustments to restore balance at the top of the spine
• Helping your nervous system shift out of constant stress mode
• Improving posture + reducing pressure on your neck
• Supporting your body so it can regulate, adapt, and heal

Because when your nervous system functions better… your body does too.

And what we hear all the time?
👉 “I finally feel like myself again.”
👉 “I’m not planning my life around headaches anymore.”

If you’re relying on meds, avoiding lights, and missing out on life because of headaches… your body is asking for support—not just another temporary fix.

There is hope. There is healing. And you don’t have to keep living like this.

✨ Let’s get to the root.

“You’re so lucky.”

No—I'm intentional. As a mom, I take care of my body so I have the energy to show up fully—for myself and my kids. I stay consistent with my health, even before anything feels “wrong.”

Because feeling good isn’t luck—it’s how I love my family (and myself) well.

Happy Mom's Week!!!
