Did you know that neglect and self-neglect are forms of elder abuse?
Neglect happens when an older person isn't getting the food, care, medical attention, or human connection they need. It can be deliberate, or it can happen when a carer is stretched too thin and struggling themselves.
Self-neglect is just as important to recognise - when a person is unable to meet their own needs due to isolation, trauma, or declining health, they need compassion and support, not judgement.
This June as part of the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we're asking everyone to look a little closer, because everyone deserves to be seen, safe, and cared for. 💜
Let's take that step together, and make sure they're not alone.
