Know your numbers!
Tracking my sleep has been a game changer. Knowing what habits help my restorative sleep and which ones sabotage it.
I’ve read that some carbs before going to bed can actually bring on better sleep, and these numbers show that it might be true!

We need to fuel our bodies so that it can do the job that it does so well.
Stop sabotaging your health! Give yourself a break and honor the awesome machine you live in. You take care of it, it will take care of you!!

Your body has an innate intelligence that is working every second of everyday to keep you healthy. We're talking about an intelligence that's directing the upwards of 100 trillion cells that you have, digesting your food, building hormones, beating your heart, and you don't have to intervene to do any of it.

When it comes to healing, your body already knows what to do. If you get a small cut on your finger, what does your body do? It heals the cut. It does this automatically. But when it comes to things like eliminating cancer cells or breaking down excess hormones that lead to things like fibroid tumors, we haphazardly think our incredible bodies can't handle it.

Our bodies IMMEDIATELY and CONTINUOUSLY work to resolve the issues, but the trouble is that most times we keep getting in the way.

If you have that same cut we talked about earlier, and you keep reopening the wound by doing the same behavior that caused it in the first place, of course it won't heal. If you take Big Mac sauce and grape soda and keep pouring it onto the wound it won't heal. You are not only NOT allowing the body to do its job, you are making it even harder to do what it already knows how to do.

A lot of times diseases are built in biological feedback that you need to change. Eliminate the behavior that caused the problem in the first place so that you can get out of the way and let your body do its thing. And support your body with right nutrition (obviously not Big Mac sauce), movement, and the rest it needs to stack the conditions in your favor to have the remarkable turn around that possible for you.

Whether it's a small cut on your finger, mending a broken bone, or eliminating rogue cancer cells, develop an unwavering faith that your body has the ability to heal itself.

At my CrossFit - members notice some interesting items showing up in the glass case - from workout supplements, workout gear, low carb/sugar free wine and vitamin supplements.
As a background in health coaching, I take pause in adding any item into the gym to ingest. I haven’t and won’t add anything to the gym that I would not and do not take, drink or eat myself.
The newest addition is a supplement called BORON. It is a trace mineral, and like all minerals we need in our diet, stripped soil and over farming have not provided adequate amounts in our food supply. This puts us in a situation where we need to consider supplementation for this and most vitamins and minerals.

So what is this mostly unheard of mineral and what is it good for?
Boron has quite the extensive list of benefits. It can:
* Aid in Wound Healing
* Boost Bone Health
* Can Help Prevent Arthritis
* Absorption of Magnesium
* Prevent Post-menopausal Osteoporosis
* Anticancer Potential
* Proper Cell Membrane Function
* Lower Plasma Lipid Levels
* Can Reduce Fungal Infections
* Improve Cognition
* Inhibit Harmful Enzymes
* S*x Hormone Balance

Yeah - so that last one…studies have shown that boron helps release testosterone in a form of free testosterone. The studies showed an increase in 21% with 6MG and 28% with 9MG (three capsules of what is in the case)!
If you have a concern about your current level of testosterone or would like to boost it, consider adding this supplement into your routine. This by no means replaces anything that your are taking by prescription if you have already gone down that route, but if you have an idea of your current level and would like to boost it, this may be an option for you.

Let the eating begin!
I love Thanksgiving and the wide variety of foods.
Now, I know a few of you are thinking - “Wait, are you gonna suggest we alter and think about what we eat? Just leave my holiday food alone”, or “what is one day or two of gluttony”?
Well…did you know that an average American gains 6-10lb over the holidays??
SIX to TEN POUNDS!
Living a Healthy Keto / low carb / energy flexible lifestyle for 5 years now, it can sometimes be challenging - but not impossible - to stay on track during these times of varied foods. One of the things I do is look for ways to slightly alter recipes to cut out unneeded carbs, sugar or gluten that would make me feel pretty crappy since I am not used to them.
The turkey is a no brainer and gets smothered with even more butter for basting.
Gravy can be thickened with arrowroot instead of flour - still adding a bit of white wine to flavor it up.
Cranberry sauce - loaded with sugar, but I’ve got to have it with my turkey. So I found a great recipe that uses monk fruit and is 1/5 the sugar/carb load than regular cranberry sauce. It tastes great and the sugar isn’t missed. Check the recipe below.
Stuffing or dressing - lots of keto recipes for this - I usually have a couple different kinds of this as my daughters love stuffing and go all out with sourdough bread for the base. I make one that is more keto bread crumbs from Aldi Keto bread and sausage.
Broccoli and Cheese for a side.
Cheesy, garlic cauliflower mash instead of potatoes - smothered with gravy!
Do I feel like I am missing out - not at all! The best part is I don’t feel bloated or pass out on the couch after we eat!
Try the cranberry sauce option and let me know what you think. The powdered Monk Fruit/sweetener can still get delivered to you in time (regular, granulated monk fruit will crystallize when it cools).

Keto/Low Carb Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients
• 12 ounces fresh cranberries
• 1 cup powdered sweetener, such as Lakanto
• 1 cup water
• 1 teaspoon orange zest
• ½ teaspoon cinnamon, optional
• Pinch of salt
Instructions
Add all of the ingredients to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until most of the berries have popped. Mash berries to reach desired chunkiness. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Refrigerate for 4 hours or until ready to serve.
