Closing the gap between heart and being lately

I once crossed paths with a music box.

Its volume was directly tied to the care and effort in turning its lever—a tangible reminder of our inner life force, that silent tune of our souls that we often forget to hum.

Just like that box, our bodies dance to life’s ebb and flow. While its melodies rely on the turn of a crank, our passions and energies spring from our soul’s depths. But in the cacophony of life, we sometimes overlook this core rhythm, our heart’s true metronome.

To be inspired is like receiving a godly whisper—a divine breath that brings life to our being. The word ‘inspire’ stems from the Latin ‘inspirare’, to breathe life into.

I’m pretty convinced the passions that ignite us aren’t always in our hands to select. Much like the music box with its pre-set tune, our true calling may be predestined. But when destiny’s winds, imbued with “enthusiasm” (originating from Greek’s “enthousiasmos”, meaning “filled with God”), caress us, we’re nudged to recognize and elevate our individual song within life’s symphony.

It seems our path is about being attuned—less of searching, more of sensing for those gusts to let them play our heartstrings, to resonate our unique song.

Being right all the time is a viscous loop

🔁

The illusion of making the "right decision" can be a deceptive mirage, concealing the true beauty unfolding before us. We often find ourselves trapped in the web of expectations, desperately seeking a path that promises certainty and fulfillment, but this mirage blinds us to the magic of what’s truly in front of us.

The pursuit of the "right decision" can lead to a chronic case of endless second-guessing each step we take. Fear of making a wrong move tightens its grip on our hearts, and we forget that life's dance is an improvised symphony, not a meticulously choreographed routine. Embracing this liberates us from the chains of perfectionism, allowing us to waltz gracefully through the unknown.

Life's journey has no fixed destination; it unfolds through winding paths, unexpected detours, and unforeseen crossroads. The "right decision" is not a static point on the horizon but a constellation of ever-changing moments that shape the tapestry of our lives.

Even what we perceive as "wrong decisions" are stepping stones leading us to deeper self-discovery and wisdom. They are humble teachers guiding us towards the revelations we seek. Embracing their lessons, we realize that every turn, every twist, and every time we fell flat on our face, plays an essential role in our growth.

If we release the mirage of certainty we open ourselves to the magic of uncertainty. In the realm of the unknown, courage blossoms, resilience flourishes, and the vibrant colors of life reveal their brilliance. Surrendering to the flow of life's river, we are guided by a force greater than any preconceived plan.

Giving up the illusion of "right decisions" let’s us embrace the untamed wilderness of the unknown where our true selves emerge. If we trust the inherent wisdom within, every step taken becomes a stroke on the canvas of our unique masterpiece.

And if it feels like you're spinning out, perhaps it's a sign to take a turn in a new direction.

TBH

“HONESTY is reached through the doorway of grief and loss. Where we cannot go in our mind, our memory, or our body is where we cannot be straight with another, with the world, or with our self. The fear of loss, in one form or another, is the motivator behind all conscious and unconscious dishonesties: all of us are afraid of loss, in all its forms, all of us, at times, are haunted or overwhelmed by the possibility of a disappearance, and all of us therefore, are one short step away from dishonesty. Every human being dwells intimately close to a door of revelation they are afraid to pass through. Honesty lies in understanding our close and necessary relationship with not wanting to hear the truth.

The ability to speak the truth is as much the ability to describe what it is like to stand in trepidation at this door, as it is to actually go through it and become that beautifully honest spiritual warrior, equal to all circumstances, we would like to become. Honesty is not the revealing of some foundational truth that gives us power over life or another or even the self, but a robust incarnation into the unknown unfolding vulnerability of existence, where we acknowledge how powerless we feel, how little we actually know, how afraid we are of not knowing and how astonished we are by the generous measure of grief that is conferred upon even the most average life.

Honesty is grounded in humility and indeed in humiliation, and in admitting exactly where we are powerless. Honesty is not found in revealing the truth, but in understanding how deeply afraid of it we are. To become honest is in effect to become fully and robustly incarnated into powerlessness. Honesty allows us to live with not knowing. We do not know the full story, we do not know where we are in the story; we do not know who is at fault or who will carry the blame in the end. Honesty is not a weapon to keep loss and heartbreak at bay, honesty is the outer diagnostic of our ability to come to ground in reality, the hardest attainable ground of all, the place where we actually dwell, the living, breathing frontier where there is no realistic choice between gain or loss.”

"I’m feel deeply grateful to Mike for being the generous conduit for my encounter with the weaving wisdom of the Sphynx Code - a gift which emerged at a poignant time and has provided me a lantern with which to explore the layers and threads of my existence, and my place in the fabric of the story of life.

Approaching the reading felt like standing before a stained glass window, taking in all the many facets in the whole, and then peering through individual coloured panes exploring the perspective, sense and vibration of each alone and how they relate and merge with the whole.

My history, patterns, and ancestry were unveiled in sweet spooky accuracy and the energy that Mike held enabled me to feel deep softness and love for myself in the areas where opposing forces exist within me. The way in which the system reveals the profound support networks of energy and archetypes which accompany us through difficulty was emotional - it shared how struggle, friction, pressure and darkness are the birth places of profound beauty and infinite dancing potential.

I had a sense that the Sphynx Code holds both profound authority and a playful spirit that shines multicolored rays of light into entangled places and can guide you down a yellow brick road adventure toward your highest potential.

Mike has a beautiful gift in his holding and channeling of this system. He possesses a rare energetic poise which creates a space in which you feel your story is honoured and gently unearthed into soft sunlight. Having the map of your psyche & soul witnessed and unfolded is a vulnerable experience and Mike holds that so beautifully with sweetness and integrity and crystalline clarity.

Thank you Mike - I have no doubt the code chose you as one of its guardians and I’m so excited for all the many people who’ll encounter you both!"

Grateful 🤍

Stand still.
The trees ahead and the bushes beside you Are not lost.
Wherever you are is called Here,
And you must treat it as a powerful stranger, Must ask permission to know it and be known.
The forest breathes.
Listen.
It answers, I have made this place around you,
If you leave it you may come back again, saying
Here.
No two trees are the same to Raven.
No two branches are the same to Wren.
If what a tree or a bush does is lost on you, You are surely lost.
Stand still.

The forest knows Where you are.

You must let it find you.

Lost | An old Native American elder story

—————-

We can’t sleepwalk into a life we desire.

Paying attention can buy us everything we lost from ourselves while trying to stay safe and out of harms way in the past.

Stillness and silence have to drown out the myriad of impulsive and scattered voices of fear and doubt to summon our creative and intuitive gifts.

Life is a present activity only.

Everything else is an illusion.

How we live now is how we live our entire lives.

Embracing now as though we’ve been waiting our entire life for it allows us to feel its fullness.

Tasting the subtle notes of the moment help us to know where we are and it’s the difference between us living our lives or our lives living us.

Initiations are a rite of dying from an old life and being born anew.

The word cancer was derived from the Greek word karkinos which is said to have been applied to tumors because the swollen veins around them resembled the limbs of a crab. Humans are ever-evolving creatures who, much like a crab outgrowing its shell, are constantly outgrowing their metaphorical containers and transcending to new levels of being.

It seems culture conditions us to fear anything that hinders us and that the struggle, illness, and crisis that barge into our lives are to be dealt with by fighting or repressing to get back to “normal”. But the more we mask or repress the symptoms, the more we cover the cracks of illusions in how we’re living.

Our symptoms of conflict and crisis can serve as a call to broaden ourselves and to heal and grow past our limitations. They can narrow our focus for long enough to look into our depths and see what we had been denying or hiding from ourselves.

“Life does not accommodate you, it shatters you. It is meant to, and it couldn't do it better. Every seed destroys its container or else there would be no fruition.”
-Florida Scott-Maxwell

A health crisis is a journey of transformation that requires us to shatter the old and then recollect our fragmented parts and piece ourselves back to wholeness. It starts when we can acknowledge and accept the collection of past pain and emotion that has been laying stagnant in our psyche and keeping our roots from reaching a fresh reservoir of water deep below.

Challenges aren’t here to defeat or destroy us. They’re here to ground us in our humanness by opening our eyes enough to see a new way to engage with the time we inherited from the ground that holds us before we lay beneath it.

Our challenges are a way to renew ourselves over and over again by releasing the old stories that had led us emotionally and spiritually astray.

These pics were taken 6 months apart from each other and they feel like very different people. One prior to my diagnosis and the other right after having an orchiectomy.

Our only power is in our response to the challenges that arise and whether or not we’re willing to accept change and embrace a new way of being.

Cancer brought me to my knees many times last year and it felt as though I went thru every stage of grief on a somewhat weekly basis. It was humbling. But it also broke me in all the right ways to see the truth buried underneath all of my unmet despair and anguish.

I couldn’t have done it alone and it opened my eyes to the love and support that I had in my life.

I’m grateful for every step of it. I’m grateful for my bodies capacity to heal and rebuild.

I’m grateful

Fall for your life

This year is teaching me a lot about faith.

All life is an act of faith. Each step we take is an act of faith that the floor won’t fall out from under us. We can believe the floor will hold us but we can never truly know with certainty.

Faith is embracing beyond what our beliefs are expecting and an allowance of whatever is to truly be. It begins when we can humbly admit that we don’t have all the answers, and courageously take that next step.

Faith is what widens the aperture of the mind to see beyond our hopes and let go of our need to understand or control. It allows us to recognize the perfection in the truth of the moment no matter how startling it may be when that floor doesn’t hold us the same way it once did.

It’s not a religion that gives faith, it is a life of daring openness and authenticity
-Or as Carolyn Myss puts it, “Beliefs are for people who don’t have faith”.

Faith is an essential virtue of love. We don’t fight for love because it’s a surrender. We don’t “rise in love” because it requires us to freely fall into the unknown abyss without anything to cling to. Clinging onto love is a sign of incomplete trust in how we relate to ourselves and it halters growth.

All relationships that aren’t built on self-deception are a risky gamble, but there’s no better way to know ourselves or others than to take the leap.

There’s no substitute for faith in this endless trust fall called life, but falling gracefully is determined by how willing we are to surrender to the experience.

A fulfilling life can be measured in our ability to be fully present for it.

It’s our ability to bask in the glorious peaks and the valleys below.

Inner peace is proportionate to how well we allow what is without trying to resist and fight it off.

Suffering erupts when we attach our well-being to our theories of how we think things should be instead of letting them be how they are.

Joy and peace can be determined by how well we can sit and be with what is. Avoiding and running only builds more friction and less ease.

It’s a surrendering of our beliefs and a trust fall into faith.

It’s so easy to get fixated and cling to what we believe should be or how someone else could be better. But accepting oneself, another or a circumstance is the only way to embrace the Truth of what is. Only from that awareness can we welcome health, vitality, and authentic connection to the moment.

True power is in our heart’s ability to bloom in acceptance for all that exists within us and around us.

That awareness provides more choices and room for growth instead of imprisoning ourselves in the idea that life is against us.

We aren’t victims of our circumstances as much as we’re victims of how we choose to look at them.

Wishing you and yours a full heart.

🤍

TRIPPING OVER JOY

What is the difference
Between your experience of Existence
And that of a saint?

The saint knows
That the spiritual path
Is a sublime chess game with God

And that the Beloved
Has just made such a Fantastic Move

That the saint is now continually
Tripping over Joy
And bursting out in Laughter
And saying, “I Surrender!”

Whereas, my dear,
I am afraid you still think
You have a thousand serious moves.”
