🕊️ A Day of Quiet Wonder at Moni Theoktistis

Today we ventured into the heart of northern Ikaria, winding our way through lush pine forests toward Theoktistis Monastery, nestled near the village of Pigi. Tucked into the mountains, this little sanctuary feels like something out of a timeless storybook—with its whitewashed barrel-vaulted church, surrounding herb-scented gardens, and whisper-soft frescoes painted in the Cretan style. One painter, Pantelis Hatzis from Chios, and his assistant are believed to have brought these scenes to life in 1688.
