A horse doesn't care how busy your day has been. It only responds to the energy you bring. The more I ride, the more I'm convinced people aren't much different.

Whether we're with our family, sitting across the closing table from a client, walking through the church doors, or climbing into the saddle, the people around us can usually tell when we're truly present... and when we're already thinking about what's next.

Lately, I've been reminded that showing up isn't the same as being present. Maybe the greatest gift we can give the people we care about isn't more time.

Maybe it's our full attention.
