5 YEARS OF ADORE HER BY G. 🥂
Let me take a moment to really appreciate this.
Five years ago, on 9 September 2021, I took the last money in my pocket - money that was meant for our rates and taxes and I decided to bet on myself.
I Jorgina Heugh started packing orders on the living room floor.
No shop.
No employees.
No big investment.
No fancy setup.
No guarantee that this would work.
Just a single mom of 2 with a vision who was willing to start with what she had.
And I did.
I built.
I learned.
I failed.
I started again.
I adapted.
I figured things out along the way.
And today, that little business from my living room has become a real, growing brand - one you can find soon on shop shelves in Bellville and Vanrhynsdorp, on Takealot and Amazon, and across our online platforms.
And I’m proud of that.
Because nobody can tell me it was handed to me.
I built this. ❤️
Not perfectly.
Not easily.
Not overnight.
But consistently.
There were times I had to choose between investing in the business and paying for things I needed personally. Times I questioned whether I was crazy for continuing. Times the numbers didn’t make sense. Times I had to do the work of five people because I couldn’t afford to hire one.
But I kept showing up.
And that’s what five years has taught me:
You don’t need to start with much. You need to start with what you have and be willing to keep going.
Your living room , your little stock, your first customer and your imperfect first attempt can be the beginning.
Don’t be embarrassed by where you start.
One day, you might look back and realise that the little thing you were building quietly became the thing you once prayed for.
Today, I celebrate the brand.
But more than that, I celebrate the woman who refused to quit on her vision and the people who supported me right through it all.
